After that kiss, what I didn't expect is what Martin said after that.
"I'm sorry..." napa-iwas ng tingin si Martin. "Hindi ko sinasadya. Nadala lang ako."
"It's okay..." Yumuko na lang ako. I think I'm the only one who liked it. He's saying sorry, it just means that it was a mistake for him.
"I'm sorry, Kat. You told me that you still love me, but I'm not ready to love you. Let's stay as friends or as a boss and an employee, shall we? Please forget... about what we did."
Lumabas ng sasakyan si Martin para magmuni-muni, at naiwan ako sa sasakyan niya. Mapait akong tumawa nang maramdamang basa na ang mga mata ko. I just sobbed until I fell asleep dahil ang tanga-tanga ko.
Nagpa-halik ako tapos parang ayaw pa niya. Naaawa ako sa sarili ko. I don't know why I'm offended of that kiss. Maybe I'm offended because this time, I love him, and his feelings for me is unknown, maybe unreciprocated.
It seems like he closed his doors for me. That's what I thought, though I'm unsure.
Kinabukasan, nakahingi kami ng tulong sa dumaang truck ng gas kaya naka-punta kami sa Batangas, sa resort kung saan gaganapin ang business meeting. We arrived just in time for the meeting, nakapag-bihis pa ako at nakapag-ayos sa naka-laang hotel room para sa akin bago 'yun. Nauna pa ang assistant ni Martin sa venue kaya naayusan rin siya kaagad.
"You will present our marketing plan in front." Kinabahan ako nang sinabi 'yun ni sir. Hindi naman ako na-inform! Katabi ko siya at nasa malaki kaming kwarto ng hotel. There was a long meeting table surrounded by chairs and a projector up front. We were wearing a business attire.
"Sir Pangilinan? Ako po? I've never tried this... Never ko pa pong na-try mag-present."
"I'm sure you can do it well." I didn't expect him to hold my hand that's shaking because of nervous. Buti na lang at nasa ilalim ng lamesa kaya walang nakapansin.
Natapos ang meeting at agad kong tinakasan si sir Martin after kong i-presenta ang marketing plan sa investors kanina. It was a successful presentation with minimal flaws.
Habang naka-tingin ako sa salamin, may tumulong luha na agad ko ring pinunasan ng tissue dahil naka-rinig ako ng katok sa pintuan ng hotel room ko.
