Socorro started to sing La Sadunga in Spanish as she danced through Santa Cecilia's cemetery.

The night before I went to your house

(Antenoche fui a tu casa)

A group of female skeletons appeared and began to twirl with Socorro.

I hit the padlock three times,

(Tres golpes le di al candado,)

A memory of a living Mama Imelda closing the door behind her once Hector left played out in the night sky. A single tear escaped her left eye.

You are a heavy sleeper. Oh!

(Tienes el sueño pesado. Ay!)

Another memory soon appeared. While sleeping in her bedroom at night, Mama Imelda twisted and turned.

Sandunga, Sandunga

Mom for God's sake!

(Mamá por Dios!)

All of a sudden, the wind blew Aztec marigold petals in circular motions. The petals soon glowed a brilliant gold. Mama Imelda's spirit manifested from the petals.

She sang as she put her hands on her hips. A mariachi band immediately appeared to accompany Imelda in her song.

Sandunga, don't be ungrateful, Mom of my heart.

(Sandunga, no seas ingrata, Mamá de mi corazón.)

At this time, the dancers twirled a little faster and the music grew more intense.

You offered to accompany me

(Me ofreciste acompañarme)

From the church to my hut

(Desde la iglesia hasta mi choza)

Mama Imelda tried to hold in her tears. She twirled so gracefully, Socorro found herself feeling speechless.

But since you did not arrive...

(Pero como no llegaste...)

I had to come alone!

(Tuve que venirme solo.)

As she sang the last high note, Imelda danced towards the Marigold Bridge without looking back once. Before Socorro could call out to Imelda, she woke up!
