Third Person POV
(Direct recap of Chapter 1 with additions so skip to the exclamation marks (!) to skip the bit you have already seen:))
The atmosphere in the Lanling Jin clan great hall was tense with anticipation. Would the famed Yiling Patriarch dare show his face?
In the distance came muffled shouting as three figures emerged in the sky. All clad in new, black robes they came nearer, laughing and teasing. Curiosity spread over the room. There were two men and a child, features obscured by the distance but most unusually each sprouted a pair of beautiful, elegant wings. The man on the left's were brown with black and white speckles, to the right, the other man had deep ebony ones with deep red tips and finally the child had dark grey wings which faded to white at the bottom. It was unlike anything anyone present had ever seen before and their jaws dropped with awe and wonder.
As the group had got nearer, whispers again rose among the cultivators upon the confirmation of the group's identities. It was Wei Wuxian, The Ghost General and an unknown child. The child landed first just outside the doors, but miss timed it and skidded before crashing into a flower bed. He was quickly followed by Wei Wuxian who elegantly landed and went to go help out the boy. He checked over the boys bruises lightly cajoling him before effortlessly shielding them both with his wings as Wen Ning landed. The loyal corpse was slightly stiff in his movements which resulted in an uncushioned landing, sending dust and dirt flying everywhere.
Folding in their wings, Wei Ying picked up the child supporting him on his hip whilst chatting to Wen Ning.
"You're both improving, I'm impressed." He said as they ascended the staircase.
They walked proudly into the hall and just as Wei Wuxian was about to say something there was a small tug on his sleeve.
"What's the matter A-yuan?"
"Baba, is that your Jiejie?" whispered A-yuan loudly
Several gasps could be heard from the crowd.
"Did that child call him Baba? Is that Wei Wuxian's son?", they whispered.
Ignoring them, We Ying responded. "Yes, that is my Jiejie."
"She's so pwretty", A-yuan loudly whispered back.
Yanli blushed happiness spreading across her face. Finally, Wei Wuxian got to speak,
"Jiejie sorry I'm late! Did you miss me!"
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yanli wanted to run into her brother's arms and hold him as they always had. But she couldn't. It would be improper and nothing good would arise from it - aside from her small personal gain - so she stood firm and proper and waited for Wei Ying to continue.
They bowed to each other before Wei Ying spoke up. He had placed A-Yuan on his hip before continuing.
"Shi.... Lady Jin, it's so nice to see you. I am so glad you invited us. I would like to introduce you formally to Wen Ning again and my new addition, Wei Yuan." He confidently said. Then he turned to the boy he was holding and quietly whispered, "A-Yuan, be polite and greet your Aunty."
The boy did as was told and introduced himself.
"Hello Aunty, I am Wei Yuan, son of Wei Wuxian." He said cutely in a shy tone hiding his face in Wei Ying's shoulder in a brief moment of timidness.
"Thank you for coming A-Xian, I am so genuinely happy you could make it. Not only do you get to meet your nephew but I get to meet my nephew this little cutie!" She cooed at a slightly blushing A-Yuan.
Wei Ying was about to turn around and sit down when something caught A-Yuan's eye over his father's shoulder and he began to squirm, wriggle and protest till Wei Ying put him on the floor. Wei Ying was confused until he saw where A-Yuan's eyes were directed a second to late to stop the child.
"RICH GEGE!" The child shouted "Baba it's rich gege!" He said before running and plopping himself into Lan Zhan's lap.
A complete silence of shock and confusion descended upon the room and glancing around, Wei Ying thought that Lan Qiren was about to have a Qi deviation or at the very least pass out. His face was rapidly switching between an ugly scarlet and a sickly white colour.
'Oh well, not my problem', thought Wei Ying. 'Serves the old cockroach right.'
Now Wei Ying refixed his attention on Lan Zhan and to pairs eyes locked. A gaze full of emotions unsaid before A-Yuan interrupted and started pestering Lan Zhan for attention.
Wei Wuxian nervously laughed.
"Baby, come here!" He tried but A-Yuan was stubborn enough to rival even Wen Qing.
"NO! I likes Rich gege, so Is stays here." He pouted before beaming at Lan Zhan.
"Baby, you can't call him Rich gege! That's not his proper name. He's..."
A-Yuan interrupted him before he could finish.
"No! He is Rich gege!"
"A-Yuan listen to me. You can't call him Rich gege, he has another name you must use."
Again Wei Wuxian was interrupted but this time a feeling of slight dread gathered in his stomach. There was no way A-Yuan would know an alternative appropriate name for Lan Zhan.
"He's DADDY!" A-Yuan yelled proudly.
