Malcom's POV
For hours, the only thing I saw was ocean and air. The sound of the wind blowing in my face was quite annoying, but I got used to it after a day of flying. I was now approaching the fortress of Perseus, for I could see fiery sands and volcanos in the distance. I also knew that my death was more than likely approaching, but I gave no heed to this, for I was blinded by rage and anger. I remembered watching Perseus swiftly behead the wisdom goddess with his mighty sword riptide. I remembered the glee in his face as he watched Athena's head fall upon the ground. I remembered all his dam minions fighting and killing without mercy. I cried out in despair as I approached the fortress of the one that used to be engraved in heroism. The walls and towers came into view around 15 minutes later. I glared fiercely and landed at his gate. Few monsters were about, and the archers were sleeping in their towers. The sky was dark and littered with smoke and ash that had erupted from Perseus's foul volcanos, and the Nile was boiling and black. It was as if I had entered the pit of Tartarus again, for it looked like it. Though all monsters were compacted in one area: the fortress of Perseus. I decided that if I were to 1v1 the dark lord, I would probably have to get him to come down. "Coward! Come down and face those you call foe, and stop lazing around in your foul fortress," I screamed. The archers began to awake and they headed off to their master. I cursed him several more times, but to no avail. Or so I thought. The black gates opened slowly and silently, and they revealed Perseus Jackson, clad in his dark armor. He wielded Riptide, his trusty sword, and a shield as black as the deep void. "You woke me from my nap. For that, I shall kill you slower. Now Malcom, explain to me why you are over here all alone at 2:00 in the morning. Could you have not come to attempt placing death upon me at noon instead?" Perseus asked with a hint of sarcasm and mock. "Why would I benefit the one I am attacking?" I questioned. "Note the sarcasm," Perseus said, "Now didn't you come down here to fight me and not talk to me?" I took that chance to jump at him, and I was hit back with a response from his blade. "Stronger than you look," I mumbled. Perseus took a swing and grazed my arm. I deflected another one of his strikes. "Face it. When has evil ever prevailed? You will never succeed the throne of the king of the gods," I shouted at the dark lord. "Remember, I was only dethroned by a 2nd betrayal, and this time I am twice as powerful as last time," Perseus said. I swung at his arm, but the dark lord dodged the attack. I surprised him with a jab to the leg, and I managed to cut his skin. Perseus winced before repeating my attack and stabbing Riptide entirely through my leg. He took advantage of my weakness and sunk his blade into my left arm. He then swiped the sword across my right arm. I weakly lifted my sword and attempted to impale him through his chest. Perseus raised his shield, and the attack was blocked. Perseus Jackson, the demigod who used to be my very own friend, shoved his cursed blade through my chest. "Not so cocky now!" Perseus laughed with glee. But before I collapsed and died, I sunk my blade unto his right shoulder. I fell and heard no more.
Percy's POV
As the bloody body of Malcolm fell, I was screaming in pain. The dam demigod sank his dam knife into my dam shoulder. I decided that I was leaving my poor monsters to starve, so in my pain and anger I decreed that Malcolm was not to be given a proper burial and would be fed to the many monsters in my fortress. Anyways, whilst I was stomping around Malcolm's body, my minions were climbing unto the field of death. "W-what happened?" Came the voice of Leo Valdez. When murmurs and questions began to spark, I just dismissed my monsters and demigods. I dragged myself to my room and there I treated my wounds. When I finished treating myself, I crashed on the bed and resumed my sleep.
Katie's POV
It had been a week since Malcolm had set off on his quest, and we were now having doubts. One unfortunate day, a messenger of the dark lord arrived at Olympus and told them what happen, and the messenger said it in disrespect and not in pity. We attempted to kill the messenger, but we failed and the messenger escaped our wrath. The rest of the night was spent in sorrow and despair, and all of the demigods cried in their beds. Though there was no body to burn, we still made a shroud for the hero, Malcolm, who's name would be forever remembered.
