We pulled up to the ice cream parlor and told the girls to stay in the car. Frank and I walked up to the door and was about to step across the threshold until I seen a wire across the bottom of the doorframe.
"Woah." I said as I held Frank back
"What?" He said
"Look." I pointed
"What the hell?" He spoke
We both pulled our guns out and carefully stepped into the building. It was pitch dark in here so we just cautiously walked through the building.
"Brian run!!!" Frank yelled
I didn't know what he said run for, but I ran. Once I made it outside, Frank ran out right after me and we saw the building blow the hell up.
"Boss man is gonna kill us." I said looking at the burning building frame
"Yup, I know." Frank said
"Umm, should we follow up on any other leads or...." I said
"Nah. I think we should call this one in first. So we don't look suspicious." Frank says
"Good call." I said
We both got up and soon as we did, my ears started ringing and all the sounds around me sounded muffled.
"Brian? Brian are you okay?" Frank asks as he shook me
I just held my ears before feeling something in my side. I went to touch and seen it was a shard of glass.
"Brian?" Frank's muffled voice said
I just fell over on the ground and passed out.

"I need EMS and back now." I called through the radio
"10-4. What's your location?"
"1826 Flospic Drive." I said
"Copy that, we have EMS and back up units dispatched to your location officer."
"Dad what's going on with uncle Brian?" My daughter asks
"When the building blew up, a piece of the glass from the window hit him in the back of his side as we were running away from the building. He'll be fine though." I said
Not knowing that for sure, I had to tell her something to keep her calm. My daughter loved Brian like he was her biological uncle and it didn't matter to her that they weren't. If I couldn't make it to an event of hers, Brian went in my place and as his partner, as his brother in blue, and as his brother in general, I'll always thank him for stuff like that.
"Brian, talk to me buddy. You okay?" I said as I knelt down next to him
"Frank can I ask you something?" He asks
I didn't at all like the tone of his voice. It sounded like he was almost straining to talk and that wasn't a good sign.
"Yeah man. What's up?" I said
"Why is it that when people ask what color the sky is, everyone says blue? But people forget to mention the clouds up there? The clouds are white. So the sky is white and blue. See." He said before pointing
Oh God. He is incoherent as hell right now.
"Hang in there buddy. Help is on the way." I said
Paramedics arrived and took Brian in the ambulance. But before they took him away, he grabbed my hand.
"Frank?" He said
"I'm here man. I got you." I said
"Frank don't let me go brother." He said
"I'm here man. I'm not letting you go." I said
The look in his eyes broke my heart. Tears started rolling down his cheek and I decided to ride with him in the ambulance and let Mariah drive the car.
"Stay with me man. We gotta do this together." I said
"It hurts so bad." Brian said

I walked back into the house with the girls and I just felt so numb right now. I was in shock and this day couldn't get any worse.
"What happened? Where Brian?" Shad asks
"Haley go upstairs please." I said
Haley went upstairs and after she did, everybody else came downstairs.
"Well it's 'bout time. Where Brian at?" Kentrell asks
I just walked off and sat down on the couch and put my face in my hands.
"Y'all ight?"
"FUUUCK!!! Fuck fuck fuck!" I yelled while getting up and punching a hole in the wall
"Woah man. Calm down. What's going on?" Shad asks
"Mariah what happened?"
"They blew up the fucking building." I said
"Who blew what up?" Kentrell asked
"The fuckers at the ice cream parlor. We went to go check out some stuff we found out when we get there I almost bussed my ass on a fucking trip wire and then I found a damn bomb and I told Brian to run." I said
"And lemme guess, he didn't?"
"No. He ran, made it out before me. We both got out just in time before the shit went up into flames but then found he had a shard of glass in his side and now he's at the hospital in bad shape." I said
"See, this is all her damn fault." Jessica says
Outta nowhere, Ben hit Jessica square in her nose and caused it to start bleeding.
"Shut what they call the fuck up!"
After cooling myself down, I sat down and tried to think of what my next move would be.
"I'll fix your wall by the way." I said
"Don't worry about it. It's fine."
"Na if that wall hit yo dumb ass back, we ain't helping." Kd says causing me to laugh a little bit
This day had just been wild as hell and I do not want it to get any damn worse. Just give me a break already.
