*River POV*
Everything had been normal right up until the end. That day Roan had interrupted my training which my father did not take kindly to. He called servants to take Roan away to his room. Later that evening, in my father's chambers he lectured him for what seemed like hours. He decided to punish Roan by not letting us see each other for months. Shock spread across Roan and I's faces as we looked in disbelief.
"Wha- what no! I won't!" Roan shouted at him. He had never stood up for himself before, and I was shocked but not nearly as much as father was.
"How dare you!" I expected more but he just looked at me and continued "if you hope to be as powerful as you could be you'll forget this ridiculous boy! I order you to never speak again." He said sternly.
"Wha- father, please he won't do it again!" I begged, how was I supposed to live without my twin brother?
Before anything more could be said a rumble shook the floor of the entire room. everything went quiet for a moment and then the wall closest to my father completely collapsed and we were thrown backwards. Roan and I couldn't hear and could barely see though the dust and debris. I caught a glimpse of my father also on the ground before Roan woke me up out of my daze. He grabbed my hand and pulled us behind a pile of ruble. We could see over the top. I saw three adults staring through the open wall. I watched in horror as they grabbed my father off the floor and threatened to kill him if he moved.
He said "and you call yourselves the good guys?" While he glanced over and saw us by the pile he reached for his knife and they killed him.
Point blank ended his life in front of his two ten year old children. They never even realized we were there. I felt tears run down my face and before I could scream Roan clasped a hand over my mouth. Instantly all my life training kicked in with a rush of adrenaline and sudden anger. I grabbed Roan's hand and twisted it until he fell to the ground in pain. I began to rise off the ground. They were all looking at each other until they finally locked eyes with me. His face haunts my nightmares. The leader, the man who actually killed my father. The blood drained from their faces and the shock that was on his face couldn't be matched. I hovered over the ruble pile and my eyes turned Red then White. I can hardly remember what I did I don't think I would want to even know even if I could. It's like a foggy memory almost like seeing through someone else's eyes. All I know is I went on a rampage and almost killed them. It was a while before I ran out of fuel and my feet touched the floor again. I could see clearly the scared faces as uncontrollable tears ran down my cheeks and an involuntary scream left my mouth. I fell to my knees and Roan slid next to me as I passed out from exhaustion. The life I had always loved and cherished was gone forever, ripped away from me like candy from a child. This is not the best but it will make more and more sense later...👍
