Omega ran through the woods with her flashlight off. She knew that because of its light, Fox knew where she was. She kept her arms outstretched to help her avoid running into trees. The light of the moon helped to show her the way.
She leaned against a tree to catch her breath. Behind her, off in the distance, she could hear Fox coming after her. She panicked and booked it. Her right foot slipped on a rock and she fell. She hissed. She got up and started running again.
Omega rubbed her cold hands together as she ran. It was even colder out here. She stumbled and noticed her pace had gotten slower- she was getting tired. She's never run this far in one go before. She could hear Fox coming at her. He just kept on getting closer and closer.
Omega looked around. There wasn't much she could do. Climbing wasn't an option, and there were no caves in sight. She did notice a crawl space in between some bushes and trees. She got on her hands and knees and crawled in. It was surprisingly roomy in there. She could sit upright just fine. She scooted away from the entrance and hugged her knees. Omega tried to calm her breath. As she heard the noise of twigs snapping get closer, her heartbeat got louder. She peaked through the gaps in the bush. When she spotted him, she didn't dare to move. He came to a stop near her bush. Omega held her breath. After what seemed like an eternity, Fox left. When his footsteps were far away, Omega let go of her breath. She tried to see if she could see him anywhere, but she couldn't. She checked her watch. 4:20 AM. Did it really take me that long to escape the building?Omega listened very carefully before crawling out of the bushes. She couldn't hear Fox, but she could hear the roar of cars in the distance. She crawled out of her hiding spot and started towards the sound of cars driving past. It took her a few minutes, but she reached the road.
There were two parallel roads split by grass down the middle. There weren't many cars driving past, so she decided to cross it.
Even though the first road only had cars going right, she still looked both ways before running across. She noticed that her right ankle started to hurt while she ran. She brushed it off, reaching the grass. She did the same thing as before, but this time the cars on the second road were only going left. When she reached the other side and got to the fence, her ankle hurt with every step. She stepped over the wire and limped to the dirt road a few steps away.Omega followed the dirt road. She wasn't sure how far she had gotten, but it didn't help with her ankle feeling any better. with each step she took, it made her ankle feel worse. She sat down on the side of the road and turned on her flashlight. She looked at her ankle. It was swollen and red.
"That doesn't look good," Omega said nervously. She looked around. There wasn't anything or anyone around to help her. And she knew that if she called for help, Fox or Tarkin might find her. Omega looked back up. The trail was lit by the moon. She wasn't sure how long it went but following it was a better option than sitting around, doing nothing. She got up, favoring her right ankle, and followed the dirt road. The road turned left and she could see a few different houses ahead.
"Maybe they could help," She sped up her pace. When she got to the nearest one, she knocked and rang the doorbell. No one answered. She tried the door. It was locked. She peeked in the windows. She couldn't see anyone. Omega sighed. She checked the neighbors' homes and had a similar response. She sat on the porch of the third and final house on the road. She put her head on her chin and looked out across the plowed field across the dirt road.
"Since when did farmers go on vacation?" Omega grumbled. She looked right, down the road in the direction she was heading. The trail seemed to go on forever.
She yawned and rubbed her eyes. Within minutes, Omega had fallen asleep.
