Something happened today. Something terrible. I'm not sure if I can go through with what I've promised myself I would. I saw something today that changes everything. I'm frightened. Completely and utterly. I've learned to appreciate these four boys, and after they saved my life ... I don't know if I can ruin them like I thought I could. I have damning evidence that could do it, but this might be a secret I take to my grave.

The day began bright and sunny, but it wasn't long until the clouds began to blow in and the rain started to pour...

I was hoping to avoid those Gryffindor boys this morning, but they seem to find me anyway, and I hear a couple of the students shushing three boys barreling through the library walkways at top speed toward my table. I bang my head against the table. I thought for sure I'd left them in the dust this time, though to be honest, I wasn't trying that hard to hide. Finding a Ravenclaw in the library? Shocking.

Potter and Black slam into their chairs, shushing each other in mocking ways. Peter rolls his eyes and sits down quietly next to me. He smiles apologetically and whispers that he tried to get them to go back to the common room, but they insisted on finding me first. I quickly forgive him and silently thank him for trying. Peter has been a very good friend over the past month since he discovered the truth about my home life. He seems to understand me in a way no one else but Lupin seems to.

"Ravenclaws are so stingy," Potter mutters, pulling a book out of his bag and propping it up to look like he's reading. Anyone who knows him knows none of us would see a book naturally in Potter's hands. "Be quiet, Potter! You're being too loud, Potter! Merlin, they're being louder than I am."

"I'm sure that your footfalls could compare to a giant's," I say, giving him a glare.

Potter is unfazed. "You're one of those Ravenclaws, Ever."

"I would certainly hope so. Better to get after you about your wrong doings than let you get away with them."

"She's right," Peter says. "You two are very loud."

"Gee, thanks Wormtail," Black groans, rolling his eyes. "Who's side are you on here?"

There's a pause. Then both Peter and I burst into quiet giggles, trying to not make too much noise.

"I'm on her side, of course," Peter laughs. "I thought that was obvious."

Potter deadpans. "When did you two become such good friends? Sirius and I are the ones that befriended you."

"Perhaps, but befriending and continuing to be friends are two different ideas altogether," I say with a smile. "Connections sprout up in different ways. Peter wasn't trying, it just came naturally."
