I don't think I've ever felt this helpless before.
Then again I do feel as though I'm blurring out the past by saying this. I've been in worse odds before, most involving the pitiful humans who'd shred both flesh and bones to draw out the monster in me. Other times it was accidental, and the lessons taken away would leave a mark upon my hide for me to remember. So many memories seemed to connect to a distant moment like so, but almost all of them ended with a savior of some kind.
Not this time.
I wasn't so sure what I was injected with during that battle. I compared the thorn of the beast to a medical needle, just different given that it offered liquid death, not liquid relief. And I doubt it was ever going to let out, not until the beast got what he wanted: Me. My pale nostrils quaked, and every breath taken became forced and heavy. Truth be told, gathering oxygen was as much of a struggle as it was bearing the poison. Whatever ooze now rushed through me turned me weak and tired, forcing my brain to contemplate my well-being rather than observe the obvious danger lurking above.
There was nothing more I could do other than wait for it to pass.
So, I tried my best to challenge his dominion, showcasing my mortal fangs from the soil as a mere warning. It did nothing more than amuse him. With a feeble snort, the massive stubby-nosed beast strolled over to me, hissing and growling with interest as he scanned me from head to tail. It was curiosity that made him joyful of his newfound catch, and, now eager to know more, he pressed a claw upon the space near my neck, and hissed.
"You made me bleed..." He looked to his wounds for a second, then snorted, eying me once more. "How impressive of you..."
I groaned, fighting the burning sensations and hissed back. "What... did you... do to me?"
"I stabbed you," said the blackened creature, still inspecting my body with his bright, crimson eyes. "Easier than asking for you to submit."
I writhed, still unable to stop the molten fire growing within my stomach. But as I laid here, dying, his claws began to trickle over my scales, sending uncomfortable shivers through both flesh and bone. Knowing that I was alone, I was unwillingly under his command, as all prey were to predators. Losing my dominance was terrifying on it's own. But knowing nobody was coming to save you pushed this fear into overdrive. His throat rumbled, and his eyes glowed as if enchanted by the warmth I gave off and the strange color of my scales.
"It's venom," he growled softly, drawing his snout close to mine so I could get a better view of his blood-soaked teeth. "A single drop can break a man. And two can stop his heart."
I hissed a little louder. "Stop stalling and do it already."
The hybrid snorted. "I've been considering it. But, in all my time prowling these woods, I've found nothing by the likes of you. White scales, blue eyes, jagged fangs, silver quills..." He inhaled sharp, eyes meeting mine. "Indoraptor."
All of a sudden, the feeling in my tail returned, and through a snarl, my limb whipped right into his skull, blinding him. The male jolted in pain, and sealed his eyes shut.
"Agh!"
But that didn't help me one bit. I still couldn't move. So I watched with fear as the creature shook away the ringing in his head, cursing his annoyance all the while. Only after the pain settled did his eyes dilate, and a vengeful roar shot out from his maw.
One claw slammed upon my snout, forcing me to see nothing more than his scales. I felt his weight push into the claw, forcing me to hiss and growl as I sank into the earth. He drew his face down to me, staring into my horrified soul. All I saw was two red eyes staring right back. I let out a muffled groan, trying desperately to hide my fear. I buckled and writhed, but the hybrid didn't look fazed by my constant fight. He only snorted, looking over me once more.
