totoot... totoot... totooot...
I can hear my phone alarm ringing.
totoot... totoot... totoot...
She has an appointment with a client this lunch, kaya nagpa-alarm siya para hindi ma-late.
"Ano ba naman 'to... inaantok pa ko... Kailangan mong bumangon, K. You have to get up!" she said to herself.
She forced herself out of bed and walked toward the mirror.
There, she saw the reflection of a gorgeous woman—makinis at mala-porselanang kutis. She had the kind of body most girls dream of. Her long, curly hair framed her face perfectly, every strand falling exactly where it should.
Her name is Karylle.
An interior designer running her own company. She lives alone in a condo unit she personally designed—soft neutrals, elegant fixtures, and butterfly wallpapers decorating one whole accent wall.
She had always been fascinated with butterflies.
Butterflies are compelling creatures. Wonderfully designed, almost unreal—like scraps of paisley or a fluttering piece of modern art. She's drawn to their beauty, to the iridescent blue of a morpho, to the delicate patterns of a fritillary. Decorative. Unexpected. Transforming.
Just like her.
She walked straight to the bathroom to freshen up. After stepping out of the shower, her phone rang.
Mom Calling...
"Yes, Mom?"
"Nak, are you joining us for lunch?"
"No, Mom. May appointment ako mamayang lunch with one of my clients. Sorry po."
"That's okay, nak. How about dinner?
"Yes, Mom. I will. Miss you more."
"Okay, nak. Sige. See you later then. Bye."
She hung up, ate a quick breakfast, grabbed her keys, and headed out.
She drove toward the office.
Now playing...
"Oh... wanna kiss you here
wanna kiss there
wanna kiss you all over the world..."
She accidentally dropped her Bluetooth headset. Pilit niyang kinapkap sa baba, losing her vision on the road for a few seconds.
Her grip tightened on the steering wheel.
Then—
A loud crash from behind.
Her body jerked forward, her forehead hitting the steering wheel.
"Hey! Get off the car!!" sigaw ng isang lalaki, knocking loudly on her window.
She reached for her forehead in annoyance.
What the heck...
But despite the flamboyant look, he had an undeniably handsome face.
Diyos na maawain. Hindi nga talaga lahat ng lalaki gwapo. At 'di rin lahat ng gwapo lalaki. Seyeng nemen.
"Sayang nga..." tanging nasambit ni Karylle.
"Anong sayang?!
"I'm sorry ho, Mr—"
"Mr???? Miss ako, te! Hindi ba obvious?!" sabat ng lalaki.
"Whatever. I'll just pay for the damages. I'm in a hurry and I need to get going. Just give me your number and I'll let my secretary contact you."
"No. No. No. At 'wag mo 'kong ma-English-English hah! At anong secretary?!
"I'll make sure everything will be taken care of. Okay?"
Karylle gave him a warm, apologetic smile before rolling up the window and driving away.
Curious, she glanced at the calling card.
Jose Marie Viceral.
Bakla nga. Pangalan pa lang pinaghating lalaki at babae eh.
Sayang tong bakla na 'to. Pogi pa naman sana... pogi nga, masungit naman. Makabulyaw sa 'kin parang may monthly period.
Jose Marie Viceral.
She smirked.
Interesting.
