First love is defining
We desperately believe in its purity
That its unique and innocent
We cling to fantasies of marriage and children
How incredible it would be to grow old together
But when it comes crashing down
Tears stain your pillow and muffled screams rattle the walls
We are changed
Our optimism and trust are broken
Our worlds have been shattered
And all thats left to do is mourn
When first love dies we are never the same
Because for the first time we've experienced the full force of rejection
Unlike if a parent leaves or you fall out with a friend
When first lovers part our hearts are clenched
They are clawed into pieces by a person we chose to love us
We appointed and separated from everyone to protect us
To never hurt us
But here you are
Curled under the duvet
Clothes and dishes piled in the room
Ignoring calls and assignments
Failing to even shower
All because your first love decided you were no longer worthy of loving

PoetryA collection of poetry. This ranges from love to abuse, nothing is pretty or perfect but wholeheartedly honest. This just a processing of life events that otherwise I couldn't explain.
