I began to panic. Waking Zayn would have been useless, so I ran out of the room and went looking for Jenna everywhere in the inn.
What if they took her? What if they hurt her? It was all I could think of when I didn't see her in the room.
I kept running and there wasn't even a shadow of her inside. So I went outside and I let out a sigh of relief. She was sitting on the snow-covered porch swing lit by one of the lanterns scattered around the inn. I didn't know what to do, go to her or go back?I sighed once more and made up my mind to join her and sit next to her swinging the bench.
«What do you want?», she asked with a sore voice.
«I didn't find you in the room and I got worried», I muttered embarrassed.
«Oh yeah?», she snorted a sarcastic laugh, «Now that there's no more Natalie to worry about, are you back to me?»
«Look... maybe I made a mistake going to see her. But please don't take it the wrong way... something has clicked between us since the first time I saw her. I was just curious about her», I admitted sincerely. She deserved to know.
«So tell me what to do», she sobbed, starting to cry again.
«W-what?», I stammered in confusion.
«Tell me what I have to do to get you back», she burst into tears, «I want your love Harry, I need it... I need you», she rested her head on my shoulder.
I didn't know what to say, that unexpected confession had confused my ideas even more. I hadn't stopped loving her if that's what she was thinking... I never could. But I couldn't deny that Natalie had managed to understand and listen to me in the small, frivolous conversations we had had. And I wasn't getting much of that from Jenna.
«I'll tell you everything one day. Trust what I do. Be patient for a while longer, I have to find the courage and the right words», I sighed in agony.
«What are you talking about?», she looked up at me.
«Don't worry about it now. We have other problems to solve, okay?»
She nodded in confusion and kept her red gaze on mine. I wondered what my eyes were like at that moment. Maybe I had never looked at them carefully, green, sure, but every time I found myself in this situation, my eyes reflected hers.
«Harry», she whispered.
«Tell me», I whispered in return.
«Kiss me», she dropped a lonely tear on her cheek, «Please»
Once again I was surprised. But I didn't give it too much weight, she needed me and I needed her.I gently placed my lips on hers and I closed my eyes, absorbing everything: the taste of her lips, the scent they gave off, the shock they gave to every single organ in my possession. I deepened the kiss and I no longer had any doubts, she would be mine again, I would start all over again and I would make her fall in love with me as if it were the first time.
A final snap made our lips pull away. I opened my eyes and looked at hers, they were brighter, and no trace of more tears. It was as if I had been her cure. And realizing it in that moment made me feel more alive than ever.
«You're freezing», I told her as I watched the snow turn into a white swirl that settled gently on the concrete.
«Right now I feel hot», she whispered with a smile on her lips.
«But I don't want to make you sick, baby, let's go back»
«You haven't called me that for too long», she smiled again while standing up and holding out her hand to me.
