I'm thinking of maybe doing a sequel to this... but I thought I'd add a filler chapter in.

I'm going to be working on 'Learning To Love You' after this!

Koga sat at the desk, staring at the piece of paper for what felt like hours.

He had to go to practice. And he was starting (and failing) to write the letter he was sending back to New York.

Nikita gave him the idea to work on it when 'he was in a better state of mind'. But the thought wouldn't leave his head until he did it.

So here he is up until 3 am and had to get up exactly 3 hours later to get ready (EARLY START AND MEETING FOR SOME FUCKING REASON).

His eyelids fluttered gently. He REALLY wasn't up for this. He could lie in bed and just sleep forever, but no.

Koga wanted this.

He twirled the pen between his fingers. To his left were several pieces of paper that were screwed up and had scribbles on them.

He groaned, dropping his head in his hands and rubbing his eyes. He ran his hands down his face and lay back in his chair, facing the ceiling.

He sighed. "Fucking hell (!)" he thought, scratching his head.

He took his pen and paper and went over to the window. He gazed out over the skyline of the city. The full moon hanging in the sky. If he turned the light off, it'd probably reflect in the room.

Lyla always loved the moon. She loved the night sky in general. She saw the beauty in everything. That was the thing he loved about her. Well, one of the MANY things he loved about her.

The pen still in his hand, he placed the note on the window sill. He'd been struggling how to start it off.
It was his son for crying out loud! It shouldn't be this hard...

Bodhi,

He wrote at the top of the sheet. He didn't immediately screw it up and throw it behind. Hopefully, that should do as a starter...

Hey kiddo, I've been doing well,

Well that was a fucking bare faced lie for a start. Koga shook his head, the last thing he wanted was his kids worrying about him.

I'm glad to hear you guys are okay too.

I'm so proud of all of you guys. You, Stoney and Jade. I can't wait to see you all perform.

Koga paused.

(Speaking of performing, try and keep you sister from rolling around in glass. You know how your uncle is with blood.)

Better. He smiled.

Be sure to send me all the videos of you with the band.

I miss your mother too, kiddo. Not a day goes by when I don't think about her.

Koga sighed. It was true, he was always thinking about her.

He remembered what Bodhi wrote, that he'd been sneaking out to visit her. He had a rebellious phase when he was much younger, sneaking out at night. But this was different, now a dad himself. It changed his views on it.
This one hurt, his son always visiting his mother. He felt guilty, guilty that Bodhi was dealing with this. That he feels he had to sneak out. At ridiculous and even dangerous hours too.

Koga shuddered, tears brimming in his eyes. He remembered when Bodhi had just been born. He was a preemie. And how small he was, in the incubator with his little hat on. He like a doll, nurses couldn't belive it. They'd visit him while in the hospital, they were even stopped on the street by people looking at him in his pram. Because he was so tiny, in his little coat and furry hood.

When he held him in his arms for the first time. He couldn't put him down, he didn't want to. The first time he held him, he knew he'd protect him. From anything.

He'd die for his kids. For Jade, Stoney and Bodhi.
And it made his skin crawl, the thought of something happening to them.

Bodhi, please listen to your aunt and uncle. I know you love to visit your mom. But they're right. It's getting colder, darker, and god only knows who's hanging around.

If something happened to you, I don't know what I would do with myself.

A tear slowly slipped down his cheek. He tried to dislodge the thought from his head, the feeling making him nauseous.

And I know for a fact that your mother would want you to be safe. Your uncle and aunt are looking out for you, and they absolutely adore you all. Please go when it's brighter and safer, I know you're a tough kid, but please, think logically here.

Koga dried his eyes, going over what he'd written.

Admittedly, I'm still somewhat getting used to life over here.

Somewhat, he says......

But if you'd like to come over, I'd love it. They have a youth orchestra here so you can keep playing, but it's still a big adjustment. We'll have to sort A LOT of things out, but that I'll discuss with your aunt and uncle.

Truth the told, there was no logical reason Bodhi couldn't live over here, and Koga would love to have custody of his boy, but what if Bodhi hated it? What if he wanted to go home?

Koga rubbed his eyes, he was tired and his mind was running away with itself.

I love you kiddo, please stay safe and give everyone my love.

I love you, Dad.

Hopefully, that should it. Koga folded up the letter and went into the kitchen to get an envelope from the cupboard. He'll mail it tomorrow on his way to practise, making a stop by the post office.

He placed the envelope in the pocket of his jacket, so he wouldn't forget. Truth is, he CERTAINLY wouldn't forget it, but after the bow situation with Nikita earlier, he was having an internal trusting himself crisis.

As he went back to his desk, he picked up the photo of him and Bodhi, one that Lyla took when he was just a couple of days old.

Where did all the time go? When he was a small bundle in his teddy bear onesie that was WAY too big for a preemie? When he'd fit so snuggly in his parents arms? Now he was about 6'1 and taller than most of his peers, and beginning to carve his own road in life.

His youngest son...

Where did all the time go?
