Sapnaps POV

I drove for 5 more minutes, then decided to try to reach Aika.

Ring

Straight to voicemail. I cursed under my breath and returned my attention to the road. I have old friends roughly 45 minutes up the road, if I can reach her in an hour I'll just give them a surprise visit, no biggie. But I might as well get a head start.

45 minutes later, I had just passed my friend's town. I had told myself she would call me and reassure me at at the 1 hour mark, but at this point I was getting anxious.

Ring

Voicemail, again. I threw my phone on the passenger seat and slammed the palms of my hands onto the steering wheel. While subconsciously pushing down on the accelerator harder, I saw my screen light up.

Clay (whore)

Bro you actually left?

Yes lmaooo

Dude you're whipped for her

Not true

Whatever helps you sleep at night bozo.

I once again smiled, him and her. The only things making me smile. I exhaled deeply at this pathetic realization, calling Clay. He picked up on the first ring. "Hey dude what's up?" He asked

"I'm bored as hell right now. Florida interstates are boring as fuck." He gasped, faking being offended. "Oh come on, you know I'm right!"

"Maybe a little, but nobody can hear me admit this, alright?"

"Okay, stays between us."

He went to sleep around the 2 and a half hour mark, just as I was getting a boost in serotonin, thinking about seeing her.

The interstates were getting progressively more entertaining as I approached the seaside city of Miami. I turned on my Spotify playlist, OH MAMI by Chase Atlantic coming on.

It was almost like the music selection was symbolic, almost laughable, of what was ahead of me. Nightclubs, cocaine, hot girls, everything unhinged about modern society. "Hey Siri, add 'move to Miami' to my bucket list" and the ding that the device heard me sounded.

I pulled into the driveway of her apartment complex, the Valet guy took my keys and handed me a card with 4 numbers on it after I got my duffel.

I entered the building and walked towards the elevator. The woman at the desk cleared her throat loudly. "Excuse me sir, you need a reason of entry after hours." She bellowed uninterestedly.

"Hi, I've got a friend on..." I opened Aika's discord contact. "Floor 14."

She nodded and looked back at her computer.

I hurried back to the elevator, hitting the button labeled 14. It seemed like time moved infinitely slower in the small space. It was almost like there was multiple hours between each change of the glowing number displayed above the doors. The dings were daunting, like they were laughing in my face. Laughing like I was too late, how the unexplained incident that occurred on stream had pushed her over the edge. How Aika was 7 floors above me, breaking down, forming a harmful habit, or worse.

The doors finally slid open, and I locked eyes on her door, one of only 4 on this level. After that, my eyes landed on a man, who looked like he hadn't shaved in a few days, also looking at her door. I toyed with the pepper spray that was in my pocket, walking past him without making eye contact.

I reached her door, took in a sharp breath, and reached to knock, but stopped. I felt eyes on me, not like the guy was still watching her door, but like he was studying me. I turned to him, and saw a menacing smirk on his face. What a creep, I thought, then knocked. Fuck, I did it. Shit shit shit. No answer. I waited a minute, then knocked again. My breathing quickened as I pulled out my phone, opening her Discord contact again.

Aika🐝🐝

Sapnap
Im outside. Please open up.

Aika🐝🐝
There's a key in the planter. Thank you.

I reached for the small hanging plant, and pulled out the cold metal. Pushing it into the keyhole and turning. The door opened as the mechanism clicked. I swung the door open quickly, then closed it just as quick, making sure to lock it incase of the creep.

"Aika? Aika please answer me." I briskly speed walked through her apartment, each room, until I reached her bedroom. I knocked lightly.

I heard a small "come in." From inside and opened the door a crack, setting down my duffel, then opening it the rest of the way.

I saw Aika, curled up in her bed, phone buzzing uncontrollably. "Oh no..." I rushed to her side, uncovering her body from the sheets. "It's ok. I'm here." I hugged her head close to my chest. She sobbed silently, her body shaking, but her phone continued buzzing. "What happened Aika, what is it?"

"You're ok..." she finally whimpered, embracing my torso.

"What...?" I asked. She reached for her phone, which had not stopped going off, and selected her hundreds of unread messages. Pages, and I mean pages, of individual pictures of Aika's apartment driveway, the lobby, her door, but the highlight. A picture of me. "Oh no, not a chance." I let go of her, but she didn't let go of me.

"Please stay, you can't go."

"I'm just gonna go deal with him, no biggie, I'll be back before you know it."

"He's not worth it. Please, just stay, I need someone right now." She sobbed quietly.

"Ok, Princess. We'll stay here."
