"A hundred fifty-five Scouts." General Zachary announced. His white hair was sleeked back and the sleeves of his shirt were rolled up to his elbows. His round glasses rested nicely on the bridge of his nose as he studied the documents in his hands.

He sat on his podium at the end of the court. The people in the court room were unnaturally silent with everyone's eyes on Chief of Command.

The court room was wide in length. The walls painted in pale green and white with the symbols of each regiment hanging above Zachary. Training and Scout Corps on the left with Garrison and Military Police on the right.

Zachary's podium was at the end of the room and on his left and right were the military regiments. MPs on his left, Scouts on his right, and Garrison taking the balconies on both sides. The rest of the seats before the grand doors are reserved for civilians who decided to watch.

Many civilians from Trost were present with at least a dozen merchants littering their seats. I even caught a glimpse of some aristocrats watching with their snobbish grimaces. Only a few selected officers of both MPs and Scouts were allowed to attend.

That included me, Erwin, Hanji, Levi, and Miche. While Nile Dawk brought in almost a dozen officers to attend this meeting. All of them sneered and glared our way.

I don't hesitate to glare back. I've always hated the MPs and their corrupt ways. Those who join are nothing but ignorant cowards seeking an easy way to a comfortable life.

I was offered the position once in my training days. Due to my high marks I could've easily been the Section Commander of that regiment, but that wasn't a life I desired.

Living in a lap of luxury while also being ignorant of what's outside the walls or being satisfied with being a caged bird? Yeah, that's a waste of living. A firm nudge pushes off my upper arm and I stumble slightly in surprise.

"Stop your glaring." Levi grumbles beside me. "Where's that going to lead you?"

"Shut up," I hiss. "They need to know their place."

"You're being immature." He sighs while crossing his arms. Glancing to my side I scoff loudly.

I don't know what's he getting on about. He's doing the exact same thing. Only, those who are caught in his glare turn away quickly.

"Did you finish your reports?" I whisper instead. Finally turning my gaze away from those insolent fools, I look at the table before us.

Papers were stacked neatly atop the surface, all placed in the order this meeting will go through. Though when my eyes landed on my own documents I cringe. Messy handwriting, much neglected paper space, incoherent descriptions.

I was barely able to complete everything by this coming morning. I rushed through everything, scribbling down and signing whatever that was in front of me.

If I was told that the meeting would be held today then I would've taken it seriously. I curse softly, I shouldn't have fooled around like a irresponsible brat.

"Despite how difficult Erwin was being, yes." Levi answers. "I completed everything before the sun rose."

I whirl my head to him. He still didn't meet my gaze. He kept that stoic expression as he stares forward. I was surprised, I was still in his chambers during that time!

"H-how?" I gape. "I barely finished mine!"

Glancing back to the table I easily spot Levi's papers. Elegant handwriting, neat lines, descriptive words. How the hell did he write all that in such short amount of time.
