lizzie was actually nervous, about a date with the boy she's only known for maybe a year. and over half of that year she was terrible to him. her mind was going through every possible scenario. maybe he was just going to stand her up? what if this was a game to him?
no.. landon kirby wasn't like that. landon was kind, he was considerate and empathetic, whereas lizzie was selfish and controlling. the blonde couldn't help the tears that welled up in her eyes, what could landon kirby possibly see in her? and why was she so worked up over it?
she was supposed to be meeting landon at the front door at 5:30 and it was already 5, she curses at herself for not realizing she had no time to do her hair and her makeup, so she just compromised, she quickly picked out an outfit, a red sleeveless turtleneck, a black skirt and her white doc martens.
when she walks to the front of the school she could see landon pacing back in forth, wearing jeans and a tee shirt, a bouquet of daises in his hands, her favorites.
"you look nice." the two chuckle as they speak together. landon felt butterflies in his stomach as he takes in her appearance, from her lightly scuffed white boots, to her beautiful, long sun kissed legs, all the way to her stunning hazel eyes. landon didn't want to admit out loud that he was completely infatuated with elizabeth saltzman.
"are those for me?" lizzie asks, pointing at the flowers in landons hand.
"oh, right, yes.. i may have texted josie to ask her what your favorite flowers were." he says, scratching the back of his neck as he handed off daisies. "i figured since it was so pretty outside we can walk to the grill?"
"yeah, i'm cool with that." lizzie smiles and smells the flowers. "i'm going to go put these up really quick, don't want them dying." landon nods as she walked off he could breathe, not that he had felt suffocated, he just felt anxious, what if she completely hated him? what if the feelings he has for her are totally one sided? she is the one who technically called this a date.
"ready?"
"welcome to the mystic grill, booth or a table?"
"booth." both lizzie and landon make eye contact as they both spoke at the same time, the waitress guides them to a booth and walks off to get them their drinks.
"this is strange, right?" lizzie chuckles as she anxiously bounces her leg. landon reaches out for her hand, giving her a slight squeeze of reassurance. her cheeks rose tinted and the butterflies in her stomach swarm around like crazy.
"i think it's different.." she didn't swat his hand away, she was holding it.. actually holding his hand.
"i've been talking to my aunt bonnie and the only thing she's heard of is this pack in new orleans wore special rings to keep from shifting after a curse was put on them." she says and pulls her hand away to grab a journal from her bag.
"do you know how to reverse it?" landon asks and lizzie just sadly shakes her head.
dinner went well, lizzie had a completely different perspective on landon kirby, he was just as broken as her and it was beautiful. she wanted to be the person he went to when he when he was sad, or upset or just.. anything.
"dinner was fun." lizzie says as they stood outside her dorm room. landons hands shoved in the front of his pocket. he was adorable, his curly hair shaping his face, his green eyes piercing into her own hazel ones. she didn't even realize that she was focusing on his plump pink tinted lips, so when he leaned in she just melted into the kiss. gripping the back of his neck to pull him in closer, she felt intoxicated, like she needed every inch of him.
"i- uh.. stay with me tonight?" he just nodded, watching her kick of her shoes and climb into her bed. landon kicking off his own and crawling in behind her spooning her. "goodnight, landon."
"good night, lizzie."
