Just as I finish adding the last touches and the sun sets giving the sky pretty colors, he puts his brush down too.
"What did you paint?" I ask and his curl looking at me.
"Wanna swap on the count of three?" He asks and I nod.
"One, two, three!" I say and we switch our canvases.
I think I stopped breathing. It's a beautiful painting. But it's me. He painted me looking down.
I look back at him too see him already looking at me.
"I- It's.. It's beautiful," I say, my voice almost a whisper.
"I know," He says looking in my eyes.
Butterfly's erupt in my stomach.
"But yours," He starts, "It's gorgeous," He says and I scoff.
I just painted a sunset sky, nothing special, Compared to his painting.
I look down at the painting again, taking in the details. I notice a smudge of orange paint on my cheek in the painting.
"Is there paint on my face?" I ask him, still looking down. And then I feel his hand wiping it away.
I look up and we lock eyes.
"Not anymore," He smiles and I smile back. A shiver runs down my spine from the wind.
He notices and frowns.
Cutie.
The next thing I know, he's removing his jacket and covering me.
I put my hand on his arm, stopping him.
"I'm fine, I don't need it, put it back on," I tell him.
"Please I insist, you need it more than me," He says covering me with his jacket and helping me put my arms through it.
After nodding in approval he removes the supplies from between us and scoots closer.
He puts his arm around me and I lay my head down on his shoulder next thing I know I feel his head rest down on mine.
We sit back and watch the sky change colours.
