A V E R L Y
We're both sitting down on his bed playing Tik Tak Toe and we've been playing for a while now.
I take out my phone and check the time.
10:38 am
Has it really been that long?
I put down my last X on the board and finally beat him.
"Cheater!" He says, frowning.
"I am not!" I say, gasping.
"Whatever," He says, rolling his eyes playfully.
"Well that was really fun but I have to get going, it's pretty late," I say getting up off of the bed.
Before I can walk away he grabs my wrist and I pull my wrist back.
He frowns, looking at me.
"Are you okay, what's wrong?" He asks standing up.
"Did I hurt you?" He asks with a worried face.
"No, I'm fine," I say putting my wrist down.
He doesn't believe me so he walks over to me slowly.
He stands in front of me and grabs my wrist.
He looks at my wrist and I feel him tense.
"Who did this Averly?" He asks.
I panic, trying to come up with a lie.
"I- I fell of my bed this morning," I say quickly.
"No you didn't, this wasn't here this morning Averly, who did this?" He asks growing angry.
"Ok fine," I sigh, looking down.
"A guy did this to me," I mumble.
He stills and his jaw clenches.
"When?" He asks.
"When we were looking for our are supplies," I say, still looking down.
He sighs, "Was that why you were acting like that and why you took so long?" He says.
"Yeah," I mumble.
He doesn't say anything and just stares at me.
He sighs and pulls me into a hug.
"Averly, why didn't you tell me?" He says softly.
"I didn't want you to worry," I say, truly.
He doesn't say anything and just stays there holding me.
I stand there hugging him back, yawning.
He pulls back, "C'mon, let's go to bed," He says pulling me over to his bed.
"But-"
"No I am not letting you go home at this time, you are staying over," He says, interrupting me.
I sigh knowing I'm not gonna win this.
"Do you live by yourself?" I ask, curiously.
"Yeah," He says, fixing the bedsheets.
No wonder why it's so quiet.
He lays down on the right side of the bed and stares at me.
"Well you just gonna stand there or go to bed?" He says, raising his eyebrow.
I kick of my shoes and climb on the left side of the bed.
He turns of the light and I feel him scoot closer to me.
He puts his arm around my waist and pulls me closer to him.
"Goodnight princess," Is the last thing I hear before drifting off to sleep.
