"respect?" Taehyung scoffed, shaking his head in disbelief when he heard the term from Jungkook's mouth.

"You are talking about respect?" Taehyung questioned, this time directly to Jungkook. The shift in expression almost made him laugh.

Jungkook was confused.

"YOU!?" Taehyung shouted, his voice bold and loud hitting Jungkook's ears.

Jungkook swore he had never heard   Taehyung raise his voice this high. Ever. There was neither a facade of confidence nor even a slight tremble in Taehyung's voice. It was strong. Jungkook unconsciously took a step back when he felt Taehyung nearing him.

"It's funny right?" Taehyung said, "coming from someone who never knew what respect was in his entire life."

Jungkook's eyes immediately went wide. He wanted to ask Taehyung to stop but his voice gave out.

"You're just like your father." Taehyung said, pointing a finger of accusation at him.

"The same father who'd hurt your mother everyday" Taehyung said, his voice calm that could very easily be misunderstood as mocking.

"You are nothing different from your abusive father.."

"no.." Jungkook mumbled, choking on his own spit as his eyes pooled with tears.

Squeezing his eyes shut didn't help either when images of his mom hurt, her screams and begs telling his father to stop, began playing in his head.

Painful memories never leave they say.

No matter how big you grow. No matter what you've earned and achieved. No matter who you have by your side and who you don't. The good memories are always the ones that are easily forgotten and no matter how happy one's life might be later.

The scars of the painful ones always stay behind.

The same scars that his mother had, the same ones now on Taehyung.

Life always had a harsh way of throwing one into reality.

"You wanted to show me respect right?" Taehyung asked, giving a lopsided smile as he tried to hold his tears in.

He held Jungkook's hands in his own as he brought them to his face, caressing his cheeks as he leaned his face into his touch.

"hit me." Taehyung said, using Jungkook's hand to land a slap on his face.

"Hit. me." He repeated again doing the same thing.

Taehyung kept repeating the same thing, hitting his own face with Jungkook's hand ignoring Jungkook's shouts that were asking him to stop.

His grip tight on his wrist meant that Jungkook couldn't take his hand out of his hold as he began sobbing.

"Please don't hurt yourself" kook cried but Taehyung kept slapping himself

"It's my respect!"

"Respect"

"Resp–" Taehyung cried as he kept slapping himself.

When he let go of Jungkook's hand and fell on the floor crying.

"Taehyung" Jungkook, worried and scared, got down to face him.

"Why are you not hitting me huh!?" Taehyung shouted, his face stained with tears.

Guilt.

That was what Jungkook felt when he saw Taehyung. He wanted to pull him in a hug, hold him close, tell him 'sorry' but he knew none of the sorrys would make up for Taehyung's pain.

"Tae.." Jungkook's voice cracked, tears flowing down his cheeks as he kept wiping them away.

Jungkook's breaths began getting uneven, His eyes clouding, lips wobbling not knowing what to say when he saw Taehyung sobbing, holding his chest.

"You are just like your father!" Taehyung shouted, angry tears and eyes filled with rage.

"You are not the one I fell in love him, you're not my...not my kookie"

Taehyung said, his mind clogged with all the painful thoughts.

"I– I am.." Jungkook said, as he tried to reassure Taehyung that he was the same person but the present definitely spoke a different story.

"You're an abuser!"

"Abuser, that's what you are!" Taehyung screamed. The word rang a million times in his head.

His mom used to call his dad that.

And today Taehyung called him the same.
