Jungkook called out to Taehyung who seemed lost in his own world. He didn't even realize how much time he had wasted just laughing away with his friends leaving Taehyung alone on his own. It wasn't as if Taehyung needed Jungkook beside him, in fact Taehyung on his side Was glad that he got some time away from Jungkook.
Taehyung entered the living room only to see Jungkook sitting alone on the couch as if he was waiting for him. Yoongi who sat on the opposite couch seemed busy on his phone but he was well aware of what was happening around him.
Taehyung ignored Jungkook again, this time frustrating Jungkook who followed behind him slowly.
"Tae, why are you avoiding me?" Jungkook questioned but it went unanswered. He was getting tired of the silent treatment.
"Leave me alone for a while" Taehyung said
"why aren't you–" Jungkook said but was interrupted by one of the guy from the group
"Hey man... actually..I needed your help–" he stuttered, making Taehyung furious. Taehyung knew whatever would come out next from the fellows mouth would be bullshit.
If Taehyung was good at one thing it was at reading people, he might have failed to read Jungkook all those years back but he swore he could see right through this "friends'' facade who Jungkook always prioritized.
"He won't lend you money now or ever" Taehyung spat, pulling Jungkook behind him as if shielding him from the fake friend.
"What are you talking about Tae?" Jungkook aggressively questioned. He hated whenever Tae interfered between him and his friends. This wasn't new to Jungkook and neither to Taehyung. He knew how Jungkook would react when they would leave.
But he didn't care.
"Look I really need the money for my granny" the friend pleaded.
"Leave my house right now!" Taehyung angrily shouted, ignoring Jungkook's protests.
"Don't create a fucking scene now Taehyung!" Jungkook shouted at him but Taehyung wasn't surprised.
"He's lying to you Kook...he's using you for your money, why don't you–" Taehyung said, his voice calm and soft, as he spoke to Jungkook. Hoping for the other to believe him but Jungkook dragged him away from there.
"What the fuck are you doing!?" Jungkook shouted, Eyes immediately landed on Yoongi who was watching the whole scene. Taehyung for a minute felt calm when he noticed Yoongi. He felt a strong and undeniable force making him fight back as he pushed Jungkook away from him.
"Looks like you need a lesson," Jungkook snarled in anger taking over. Taehyung observed how Jungkook hands curled into tight fists, how his nose flared in anger but he wasn't let that going to stop himself from talking the truth
"Believe me he's using you!" He shouted
"Leave! Everyone leave right now!" Jungkook shouted.
Yoongi looked at Taehyung, this time he too was scared. He didn't want to leave Taehyung alone with Jungkook. He had already seen the pain in his eyes when he saw him sitting alone in the balcony, though they didn't know each other that well. Yoongi felt connected to Taehyung. He felt his pain. He could hear his heart crying that begged for it to be taken care of, that begged for it to be freed.
Sometimes there are people you meet during unexpected situations, who instantly make you feel safe, instantly make you feel as if you always belonged to them. Sometimes you meet people who you get to know for a few minutes but it feels as though you've known them forever. Sometimes you just know this person is for you because they make you feel comfortable and happy. Yoongi felt that with Taehyung the moment he spoke to him and though they didn't share many words to fill in the silence that floated between them, it wasn't love either. It sure wasn't love but it was comfort.
Something that Tae made him feel.
"I am not leaving" are the words on the tip of Yoongi's tongue that never got expressed. "Leave" Jungkook's words rang again as others slowly gathered their stuff and began vacating, leaving Yoongi behind.
He wanted to stay but Taehyung nodded indicating that he'll be okay not because he didn't want Yoongi to worry but because he knew he'd be okay. Yoongi too after a few minutes found his way out of their place.
Jungkook turned facing Taehyung completely with a smirk
"You think you did something huh?" He said but Taehyung just scoffed in response.
Jungkook gripped on Tae's hair hard pulling him forward
"Who do you think you are huh?"
"How dare you talk to my friends like that?"
"Unlike you he actually makes me happy and laugh"
Jungkook whispered into his face, voice challenging, making sure every word pierced through Taehyung's heart but he didn't react. He was strong. He was so strong that those never reached his heart. He wondered why though. Maybe because he was immune to it.
"Leave me then" Taehyung said in a similar manner with a smirk on his lips, showing he didn't care. He wanted to laugh when he noticed Jungkook's expression change.
"Can't do it right? What a coward!" Taehyung laughed as he spoke, shocking Jungkook, pushing him in the process as he got out of his hold.
"shutup!!" Jungkook shouted getting angrier
"You have no right to interfere between my frie–"
"He's using you dammit!" Taehyung shouted.
"And what about Yoongi huh?" Jungkook asked, shaking his head. Taehyung furrowed his brow in confusion at the mention of Yoongi's name.
"I saw you were laughing with him" Jungkook whispered
"Am I not enough? I love you Tae. Don't leave me." Jungkook said, his voice cracking, eyes not meeting Taehyung's.
"J-jungkook..." Taehyung stuttered..if he was in the past he'd have apologized immediately but he knew better now and though his heart wanted to clear out the misunderstanding his mind didn't let him.
"So what?!" Taehyung abruptly shouted, immediately calming down.
"So what..if I was laughing with Yoongi?" He asked.
"it's not like he's fake like your other friends, he actually respects me even more than my own boyfriend does" Taehyung said, his voice crisp and clear and Jungkook at him in disbelief
"He just met me today and –"
"He respects you huh?" Jungkook asked, His voice filled with frustration and hate. He harshly pulled Taehyung towards him, hands tightening around his waist but Taehyung was strong enough to push him away.
"You are mine. You need to be taught a lesson. I'll show you what respect you deserve" Jungkook said, "you want respect right, I'll give it to you"
And what happened next shocked the both of them. Jungkook stood there watching Taehyung, who had tears in his eyes. He couldn't believe what had just happened. The tears in both their eyes spoke enough on their behalf.
Jungkook walked a little closer, standing a few feet away from Taehyung. Taehyung's stance didn't alter, he was ready to give back, he knew he couldn't back away so easily.
The hope he woke up with everyday, wishing for one day to be different got even worse. The pain had become a habit, it wasn't just physical pain anymore. His heart hurt, cried for that one ounce of affection. He'd do anything just to feel the happiness he felt on their first day of being together. Things were way easy back then. Things were easy when they shared their pain with each other but now?
It was just Taehyung.
All alone.
With no one to share his pain.
How can he when the one who's supposed to be comforting him is the one inflicting pain on him? When the one who's supposed to trust him, doubts his love. Despite being hurt, despite being left broken so many times, he had to fix his own heart.
Pick up the broken pieces no matter how much they pierced in his skin.
No matter how much his heart bled.
