lesson 1: meeting the great dog demon of the west

The year was 19xx, the adventure starts for Samiko Higurashi, a regular middle schooler who lives with her aunt Higurashi and grandpa Higurashi at the shrine

She was very active in sports and in history club, her favorite period of time to study was the 1005 AD (Heian period)

She knew there wasn't a lot in the history books, so she listened to the history lessons from grandpa Higurashi

She wrote everything down and kept it in a journal for future references, she had high spiritual for someone so young but her powers were untrained and she had to learn how to control her untrained powers

The night of Samiko's 14th birthday, she heard strange noises from the room she shared with kagome ( her baby cousin) she carefully got up without waking the sleeping child

She opened the window and flipped out the window landing in front of the sacred tree, she touched the tree carefully

She felt a strong demon presence but didn't think anything of it, she thought she was hearing and seeing things but she shook her head to stop thinking such things

"Get a grip Samiko, There is no presence of demons here. You need more rest and more Fiber. You have a huge test tomorrow and you need all the sleep you can get."

She walked back to the house but just than her arm started tingling, she fell to the ground holding her arm

She screamed in pain alerting her family to wake up, Auntie Higurashi rushed out the house with a blanket, Kagome was scared because she never seen her cousin in pain before

Grandpa Higurashi got a shrine token and handed it to Samiko

" Ah Samiko, it is time for you to start your adventure without changing the timeline too much. You can't prevent every bad thing that happens down the road.

You are a Higurashi woman and as such you must do what shrine maidens must do. Your mission is simple, make sure the world gets along, it doesn't matter if it is human or demon.

You are to complete this mission in a timely fashion, it will be a hard and long mission but I have faith in you that you will complete it."

Samiko took the family token and held it close to her

" I understand grandpa, I am 14 years old now. With great power comes great responsibility. I have a lot to learn about my untrained powers.

I will complete this mission even if it means preparing for long weekends away from the shrine, I will still attend school during the week and leave Friday evening to wherever my powers lead me to."

Grandpa Higurashi nodded and gave Samiko her bow and arrows with a smile

"The mark on your arm is proof enough you will take over the Higurashi shrine when you are older but if something were to happen to both you and I, Kagome will take over.

Your mission starts tonight after your history exam. It is Friday now, take Kagome and go to sleep, can't start your mission half awake."

Kagome climbed on to Samiko's back and they both went to bed

The next morning Samiko dropped Kagome off at school giving her a big hug, She ran to her middle school and met up with her best friends

They talked about their test later that afternoon and compared notes during first period since it was free period

Samiko had very high marks since grade school so she knew she was going to crush the test with no problem

She noticed the new boy in school, she felt demon energy from him but didn't pursue it, his demon energy seemed very tamed, almost human like
