SIX YEARS LATER

"Wake up, my love," I heard Mat whisper, shaking me softly.

I groaned and stretched, not wanting to get up from the warm covers. I rubbed my eyes sleepily. I sat up and Mat sat next to me, swinging his arm over my shoulder. I smiled softly and kissed his hand.

"Happy 10th Anniversary, princess," he whispered.

I blushed and remembered that it seriously was our 10th anniversary.

"Happy Anniversary, my beautiful boy," I told him.

We both agreed that we would stay in for the occasion, not feeling like going out anywhere. We both knew it would be more intimate and meaningful if we stayed in the apartment we met it, which we still surprisingly lived in. We ordered Chinese take-out which just arrived. We set up our meal on the coffee table in the coffee table and of course, we put on the Barbie movie we've watched over a hundred times together.

After we finished our meal, I grabbed our trash and walked over to the kitchen. I threw away our things and got us both glasses of water. As I began to walk back towards the living room, I heard "Not The Sun" begin to play from in there. I smiled and walked in excitedly, setting down the glasses of water. Mat was already standing up, waiting for me to return with a smile on his face. Both breaking out into the opening verse, we grabbed each other and began to dance like we always did. It was just as magical as every other moment we shared like this. Mat's happiness was genuine and it showed by the way his skin crinkled and the way he was frantically jumping around, the joy seeping out of his skin. I mirrored him and couldn't contain my happiness, my face beginning to hurt from how much I was smiling.

It felt like ecstasy, to be dancing here with the love of my life to our song on our ten year anniversary.
