It was the last class of the day and I seemingly couldn't pay attention. The professor was going on about some literature text we would read later on in the year but my mind was bothered with other things. I couldn't stop thinking about Mat and I's kiss earlier. It seemed so genuine and it felt fucking surreal, but yet again, my feelings for him were so confusing. I felt like I liked him but at the same time, I'm thrown off by the way he treats me.
The professor quit his talking and told us that we could be excused early and that there would be no homework tonight since it was only the first day. Everyone started to pack up but I sat still in my seat, my head rested on my hand as I sighed. I was tired, and I had homework from other classes.
I quickly gathered my stuff and said my goodbyes to the professor and dragged my sorry ass out of the class. I wondered if Mat went to University as well, I hadn't seen him all day. Maybe I just didn't have any classes with him if he did attend.

I walked into our apartment and immediately, the smell of fresh basil hit my face. I scrunched my eyebrows in curiosity as I set my belongings to the side, walking into the kitchen. Mat was nodding his head and whistling softly while he stirred something on the stove. He turned around and noticed me, smiling largely. I hesitated to wave but I did end up waving back, even though I was confused.
He looked adorable. He had an apron on and his hair was messy from cooking. I watched as he began to plate the food into two separate plates. My heart exploded at the way the kitchen counter was set up. The previous roses in the vase had been replaced with fresh ones and there were two wine glasses set up, already filled with an expensive looking white wine. Napkins were neatly folded as cutlery were set on top of them. A single candle was lit in the middle of the table, lighting up the dimmed kitchen slightly.
"What are you doing?" I chuckled softly, leaning my elbows against the kitchen counter.
"Cooking for you," he smiled, his lisp was adorable.
My heart swelled at his sentence. Was this some sort of apology? God, this boy was going to be the death of me.
"Is this an apology or something?" I teased, raising my eyebrows.
"Maybe," he said sheepishly, wiping his hands off his apron before taking it off completely.
He pulled out my chair for me, gesturing for me to sit down. I quickly went over and sat as he pushed it in for me. I blushed at the small gesture. I waited as he sat down opposite of me, a pleased look on his face.
"Dig in," he said as he picked up his fork and began to stuff his face with the food.
He made a fantastic bolognese pasta. It was so flavorful, I never knew he was such a good cook.
"How was class today?" he asked, trying to start a conversation.
"It was okay, I have some homework," I answered, wiping my mouth with the napkin set next to my plate.
"Do you need help?" he offered, pausing his eating to look at me for a moment.
"Not sure, I'll let you know if I do," I blushed.
He nodded as we continued to eat our food quietly. I decided to break our silence by asking him if he went to school as well.
"Do you attend school as well?"
"Yeah, I was there today. My classes just started later and I managed to get out earlier so I came and made dinner."
"Thank you. I really appreciate it," I complimented as I looked down at my plate, stabbing my fork into a piece of meat.
