"mom, you gotta get out of bed!" veronica grabbed serena's hand, attempting to pull her out of bed.

"no, veronica. i don't wanna go to the met gala this year, your father was supposed to be my date." serena whined. veronica sighed and sat on her mother's side on the bed.

"mom, we need to go. not only are the brands relying on us for publicity but we also need to go out and do something nice. dad's arrest has been nothing but stress for us, don't you think that it's nice for the both of us to do something therapeutic for a change? like, going to the most exclusive fashion gala in the world?" veronica said, smiling at serena.

her mother stared at her for a while, making a decision. "i won't go if you don't go." veronica pouted

"fine!" serena groaned as she stood up. "i'm only doing this for you" she added. "yay!" veronica's face lit up. "you'll thank me later, mom. i'll call our makeup artists and hair stylists." she added.

veronica headed to her room and locked the door. she took out her phone and dialed her assistant.

"hi, did you transfer the money already?" she spoke lowly. "yes, 120 million for mr. nathaniel archibald?" the assistant asked through the phone. "yes, thank you." veronica ended the call.

veronica put her phone down and sat on her chair that was facing the window, overlooking manhattan. the lady sighed, thinking of how everything changed ever since school started. shit, henry's my date today. she suddenly remembered.

henry and veronica's relationship wasn't the best at the moment. it started to drain veronica when henry became more controlling of her.

as she was in the middle of her thoughts, her phone started ringing. veronica picked it up, seeing that the caller id was from the new york prison.

"hello?"

"ronnie, it's me." nate spoke through the phone. veronica put her head back, the voice of her father slightly calming her down. she was still mad at him but she misses him, alot.

"hi dad. i paid the russians already." she flatly said. veronica heard nate sigh through the phone. "thank you so much, veronica. if by any chance can you come visit me today? if that's okay with you."

veronica gulped and paused, thinking to herself whether or not she'll go see him. "um... yeah, sure. i'm on my way." she unsurely spoke and hung up.

veronica put on a coat and headed downstairs. "mom, i'm just gonna go to audrey's house! i'll be back in an hour." she lied, not wanting her mother to worry about her. she entered the elevator and proceeded to go to her father.

veronica sat in the visiting area with her hands in between her thighs, waiting for her father.

"hey, ronnie." veronica heard nate's voice from behind. veronica looked behind her, meeting her father's eyes. "hi dad." she said as nate sat down in front of her.

he smiled at her and veronica weakly smiled back. she was still mad at him, but it's no doubt that she missed her father so much.

"how's your mother?" nate asked. "she's... a mess, but i guess she's surviving." she answered "what about you? how are you handling things? i'm still your father, you can talk to me about anything."

veronica looked down, wanting to ask nate for an  advice about everything. "nope, i'm good. i'm okay,  thanks for asking. i'm handling things well" she lied. "and i'm sorry for how i acted when we last saw each other." she added.
