"happy birthday, veronica!" serena entered veronica's room with excitement and hopped on the bed, laying down beside her.

veronica had an annoying look on her face. "no happy, just birthday." she said, covering her face with her blanket. "what? why?" her mother asked, sitting down and trying to pull her up.

"because! i'm a mess at seventeen. i'm pressured, mom." she confessed. "come on, it's fun! you have a party to host later!" serena reminded her, pinching her daughter's cheeks. "fine." veronica groaned. "well atleast dad's out of jail. that's nice, i guess." she sat down.

"yup! now, go to school. me and your father are gonna run some errands and once you get home, let's celebrate your birth, my wonderful daughter." serena jokingly said as she stood up. veronica chuckled. "okay. bye, mom. see you tonight!"
