At the end of that week, good-byes were said, and my family headed back to Texas. The minute they were gone, I biked over to Josh's place. If I was going to get rid of the problem, I had to do it now. Knocking on the door, I take a deep breath. Josh opens it, sighs, ushers me in, checking the hallway. He looks down each end. "Here's what is gonna happen. You will tell me who that was on the phone that night, and if it was someone beside who you told me it was, you'll never see me again." Josh comes over to me, puts his arms around me, and squeezes. "I love you so much," he whispers, but I'm anxious to hear his answer. "Tell me." I demand, coldly staring into Josh's eyes. He runs both hand through his hair, tousling it. I struggle to keep it together, he's just so attractive. "I might as well say it sooner than later." Here it comes. Without thinking, I burst,"Why would you cheat on me?! I thought we loved each other! I thought you were different." Josh leads me to his couch, then sits in the chair to its side. "I am not seeing anyone but you. I will always love you. When I said it was an old acquaintance, I was telling the truth. Some guy called-from high school-asking if I remembered him. That's it." I eye Josh, but he wasn't lying. Sighing, I lean back. "I'm sorry. I don't know why I doubted you." Josh kisses me on the cheek, and goes to the bathroom. I look at the time. Ten fourteen? Huh. Must've lost track of time. I plod into his bedroom. "Yes?" Josh questions. Breathing in, I say, "Maybe it's time we lived together."
