"oh shit, I'm so sorry" a female voice startled them at once and they moved apart in a jiffy as if like teenagers who were caught. They looked everywhere but towards eachother and walked out of the lift.
"Hehe... Aww so cute but yar lift ground floor pohanch gayi thi you should know na, oh I understand kaha aas paas ki cheezei dikhi hongi, nai?" It was Jennifer who had shown up there & she left no stone unturned to tease them both.
"Hi Shehnaaz" she greeted to which Shehnaaz replied a "Hey Jenny" pursing her lips. That was indeed an awkward situation.
"Hass kyu rhi hai bey? Kuch bhi bakti hai bakwas. We... We... Just hugged" Sidharth tried to clarify which was very unlikely of him because Jennifer was his best friend and he never gave her explanations for any of his actions. She was pleasantly surprised.
"Oooookayyyy, DCP sahab" She nagged as if she agreed to disagree & he knew.
Shehnaaz stood quiet seeing their verbal banter.
"Ah I'll leave" Shehnaaz mumbled.
"Yeah, right, of course. Chalo car tak aunga sath. Jenny tu chal upar mom wait kar rhi thi tera" Sidharth urged, Jenny chuckled at his weird behaviour, bid adieu to Shehnaaz and left.
Sidharth & Shehnaaz walked ahead to the parking silently. None spoke yet the silence was pleasant. The calm night's starry sky was overlooking these two people walking side by side with thoughts about each other on their mind & perhaps their heart too, unknown to them both.
They reached Shehnaaz's blue Maserati, it somehow reminded Sidharth that Shehnaaz was way too above his societal & economical status. He wasn't poor, nor belonged to middle class, he lived a comfort life, obviously a Deputy Commissioner of Police with a good family background would be well off but Shehnaaz belonged to the elite rich & affluent class. She or her possessions didn't belittle him,but it showed the reality.
He sighed thinking how mere materialistic things could differentiate between human beings.
"Shehnaaz, uh don't mind Jenny. Voh pagal hai. And... Umm...are we good now?" He asked hoping that she'd forgiven him after his sincere apology. He was man of values,a true feminist, he believed that if he had wronged, he'd apologise without any ego & he lived by it unlike the angry egoistic male heroes from every other Wattpad story.
"yeah" she mumbled and looked at him, in his eyes & continued
"I guess" and winked at him with a playful smirk as she got into the passenger seat and pulled the seat belt to fasten it around her. She surely knew by now how to make him go crazy.
"Uff nautanki" Sidharth sighed at how dramatic she was and bent to reach the window to talk to her.
"Well, I told you. Dating ka toh pata nahi but the attraction is here to stay sweetheart" he whispered in his husky voice hinting at what conspired between them in the lift. That felt surreal to even recall the moment for them both.
"Good night Sidharth" she said with a different kind of smile that he noticed and waved at him. A slight blush adorned her face along with her beautiful smile, he could see that even in the darkness of the night sky.
He felt new, he didn't know what magic such an young girl was doing on him but he was smitten by her,her persona, her aura mainly. He never ever imagined this could happen with him but it was happening, right there in the moment.
