{A/N: I know its been a while but I promise I will try to update as soon as I can now. I just have a lot of things going on right now and ideas just do not flow through my brain quickly at this time. Here's another chapter! I know its short and boring but please bear with me guys.}
"Yea its just, did you see the news this afternoon?" He looks at me with a puzzled expression.
"No," he responds hesitantly. "I was out this morning."
"Well there was a fire at one of the apartments a couple streets over," my voice quietly trials off, for I do not want to recall what happened.
"Mari," he says, taking my hand, him probably noticing the tears forming in my eyelids. "What happened?"
"The apartment that burnt down, was David's apartment."
"What?!?" Matt yells, now non-responsive, probably imagining the awful possibilities yet to come.
"And we should probably head to the hospital now. The paramedic said he was fine but I need to see him. I can't imagine how awful this must be for him."
"Let's hurry then," Matt says, slamming on the pedal.
"Easy then!" I say laughing. "We don't wanna end up in the hospital with him!" Matt slows down the car, still keeping a steady pace, and we turn onto the road where the hospital comes into view.
He needs to be okay. I cannot have this. He. Needs. To. Be. Okay, I think to myself, now imagining David's injuries being severe and unthinkable.
Matt parks the car near the hospital entrance. "You coming inside with me?" I ask him, climbing out of the car.
"Of course," he says lightly. "I need to see David. Nobody at the office knows yet, should I text them?"
"I'd wait until we see what happened," I suggest. "We wouldn't want any false information to spread."
"Yeah I guess you're right," Matt responds. We walk swiftly and quickly towards the hospital entrance. A lady with blonde hair and a pink hospital get-up confronts us as we reach the desk at the front.
"Names please," she demands nicely, handing us a sign-in sheet on a blue clipboard. I take the purple pen and sign my name. Before handing Matt the clipboard to sign it too, I look at all of the names before mine. What? I think to myself. How can this be?
The names before mine were Anthony Padilla, Ian Hecox, Joshua Ovenshire, Wes Johnson, and Amra Ricketts.
