Gellert Grindelwald was running late. Well not late exactly but he was cutting it pretty close. His old preparatory school had asked him as a member of the alumni to come and give a speech at his old school. Of course he had accepted, he held very fond memories of the place but above all this was a great place to make connections.

Gellert was by no means an unknown figure in the Wizarding World, in fact he was the Patriarch of one of Europe's most influential and powerful families having inherited the position when his father died.

He was not what you would call a good man and that was a fact that he no longer bothered hiding from the world.

He didn't care for muggles and after experiencing the horrors that they were capable of during the war he didn't want anything to do with them.

He'd like to keep the wizard in world intact from their bombs thank you.

He knew that because of their sheer numbers and technology wizards wouldn't stand a chance if they were ever to be found out.

It would be like Salem all over again.

The only problem was that the entire magical community seemed to believe that muggles were as small to them as a as a fruit fly.

So much so that little by little the statute of secrecy had become some sort of joke in a muggleborn's household and there was nothing preventing the muggle parents of a witch or wizard to reveal their secret to whomever they pleased.

If the information were to fall into the wrong hands who knows what would happen.

Which brings us back to his current location.

There was no better place to network and influence people than a school.

That was one thing Albus had gotten right.

He was going to make the regular spiel one does at these sorts of events and maybe add in joke or two.

He was nothing if not charismatic and he knew it.

He was making his way towards the auditorium the familiar walls of his old school welcoming him back when he felt someone collide with him.

He caught them on instinct and looked down.

What did we have here?
Oh this was too good.
The Lady Peverell falling into his arms in his old school of all places.

It must be fate.
He internally smirked at the small look of shock he could recognize in her eyes as she took him in.

Deciding to take this as a sign from the universe he started a conversation.

Her voice was enchanting he thought privately, it seemed everything about her was especially when she blushed so prettily at his advances.

He already knew that she was not married, but he did not know about the child. Her story made sense, it was quite common in smaller families for magical adoption to take place but he still wanted to investigate on his own after.

As they reached the auditorium he conjured a rose and slipped it into her hand as he kissed her hand farewell.

He was sad to leave but he did have a speech to make and he knew that he would be seeing her soon enough.

After greeting everyone backstage he readied himself. He wasn't the usual beacon of confidence he usually was. Probably because he knew she would be watching.

But he shook that off quickly and strode out on stage with his charming grin plastered on his face as he was announced to the crowd.

He found her in the crowd and watched with complete curiosity the expressions on the woman's face. Even from the distance that he was from her he could still see the look of sheer shock which was quickly replaced by one of absolute terror.

What did she know? What had she heard about him?

It was clear that she recognized his name but that look of fear on her face was genuine.

She knew something.

And that fact alone would make it much harder for her to trust him enough to give up information on the hallows.

As he watched her rush out of the auditorium he felt all of the progress he had made with her vanish in an instant.

************
Holly was running. In her shock she almost forgot to pick up Tom from the library. After after saying a hasty thank you too Mrs. Haas she apparated away, Tom in tow.

Holly was exhausted.

Of course she had just been talking to Grindelwald.

Surely it was too much for the universe for her to not live in the same era as a dark Lord.

Of course that was too much to ask.

This was a problem she had not envisioned. How could she have forgotten?

He was so charming it was hard to believe he was so terrible.

She cursed herself for her inability to resist his charms.

No matter, she came to this time to help Tom, not stop Grindelwald. She decided that she wouldn't meddle in his affairs, comfortable with knowing that eventually Dumbledore would take care of it.

It was quite freeing, the fact that she had no responsibility to fight him.

Besides she had things to worry about other than Austrian dark lords such as the enveloppe on her desk.

As she read a smile came to her face. It was from Lord Black, he was inviting her to gathering at his manor in a few weeks, no doubt as a thanks for her contribution to St-Mungos and a way for networking.

She knew that many people were very curious about her and she wanted to make sure they had a good impression of her, meaning she would have dress shopping on her hands. Something truly exciting to her.

There was little she liked more than a shopping spree with a limitless bank account.

In a large manor Grindelwald sent back an rsvp to Lord Black for his party. He hadn't been in Britain publicly for a while and who was he to refuse another chance to network.

But still the sight of the woman with black hair running out of the auditorium stayed in his mind.
