I felt scared for my life after Jeanna spitefully told me to "back off" from Marvin. I always knew she was a huge spoiled bitch, but I never knew she could be intimidating--in a frightening way. I even had recurring nightmares about that, and I always woke up, feeling scared and hopeless. In one of the dreams, Jeanna and I were fighting over Marvin--physically--and I actually admitted that I loved him. As spooky as it was, I kept wondering if that was really true. Marvin and I were really good friends, as in we were extremely close. He was always nice to me, even when I least expected it. Basically, he was my "knight in shining armor."
But Jeanna was still Jeanna, and that would never change. And in fact, it really got me thinking--should I risk my relationship with Marvin to avoid getting in trouble by Jeanna? I knew I had to do something about this. I awakened to the sound of my alarm clock the next morning after one hectic dream about my confession of love for Marvin. I groaned, unready to face a brand new day. It was Tuesday the third. Donna said to me, "Had a good sleep last night, Cass?"
"Eh, I've had better nights," I muttered sleepily. "And I've dreamed crazier dreams."
"Been there, done that," she said.
While we made our beds, we sort of talked. "So, what did Headmistress Rogers say last night about you know what?" I wanted to know.
"She only said she would deal with it as soon as possible," Donna replied.
I became frustrated. "Now that's just great! That woman has no idea how many times I've run up to her to tell her about my problems with Jeanna Morton. And now that the bitch has suddenly threatened me to stay away from her boyfriend, Headmistress Rogers wouldn't even know a thing or two on what to do about it. She's gonna let Jeanna get away with being such a dumb bitch!"
"I'm sorry, who are you again?" Donna said to me sarcastically. She was a little surprised by my frustration.
"I'm sorry; I'm just, you know, cranky," I said.
"It's all right," she said.
Marvin wanted to sit with me during lunchtime as he usually did, but because of what happened before, I didn't think it was possible. I'd had him in some of the morning classes, including Creative Writing class, and now he noticed I'd been keeping my distance from him. He came up to me and said, "Whoa, you sexy princess. What's wrong, do I bite or something? What's with the cold shoulder?"
"Oh, I'm really sorry, Marvin," I said. "I'm not mad at you or anything, if that's what you're thinking."
"Well, it feels like you're avoiding me or something," he said, looking a little offended. "Spill it out, Cassandra. What's going on? Is there another guy?"
"Seriously! Why would you think that?"
He shrugged. "I don't know....that's what it seems like to me, apparently. Is there?"
"No, Marvin, there's no one else but you," I said. Then I took a deep breath before I could spill it all out. "Actually, there is someone else--Jeanna."
He gave me a weird look as if he had a disturbing thought. And I knew what he was thinking. "And no, I don't mean that I'm dating her," I said with a chuckle, unbelievable that he would think that crazy thought. "She told me to stay away from you, Marvin."
"The nerve of that chick!" he said, disgusted. "What exactly did she say to you?"
"More like she threatened me to stay away from you," I said. "I can't even just have a friendly talk with you like we are right now, or anything else. She says she's going to file a lawsuit against my family if you and I are anywhere near each other."
