~PRESENT~
"I can't believe you're here." Amelia said, running her hands back through her hair as her eyes scanned over JJ. "How did you even get here?"
She was in disbelief that JJ was standing in front of her right now. As much as she was happy to see him, she never in a million years thought that he would end up on her front doorstep at her home in Massachusetts. She felt her heart thumping in her chest as her eyes looked over him, still looking as good as ever. His messy blonde hair was pushed back, standing up in different directions like it always did. His blue eyes seemed to shine brighter than usual, and Amelia definitely thought they looked that way because he was happy to be seeing her again. She smirked at his feet as she noticed those same work boots that he always wore.
"What, you aren't happy to see me?" He questioned her as Amelia grabbed his arm, pulling him through the doorway and into her house. "Isn't your dad home? What if he sees me?"
Amelia pushed the door shut, turning around and running straight into JJ's chest. She felt her stomach flop as he smirked down at her, only an inch away from her body. Part of her, deep down, missed how he always snuck up behind her so that she would purposely run into him, longing to be against her. "Oh, you're worried about that now, after you showed up on the front doorstep of my house?"
She heard JJ snicker as she grabbed his hand again, pulling him straight into the living room and sitting herself down on the couch. JJ hesitated a moment, and then sat down next to her, eyes never leaving her face. "Besides, no one is home right now."
Silence fell between them, neither of them sure exactly what to say. Amelia stared at the floor below her as JJ stared directly at her. "Are you going to tell me how you got here? Or why you're here?"
She licked her lips as she finally looked to JJ, meeting his eyes. She felt her heartbeat speed up in her chest as she looked into those baby blues.
"I needed to see you." JJ started to say, swallowing nervously before licking his bottom lip. "I came back from the boat looking for you and they told me you were gone. So I booked a flight here for as soon as I could, and here I am."
"How did you even get my address?"
JJ smirked, his eyes flickering devilishly. "Sarah hooked me up."
Amelia chuckled as she tucked her hair behind her ear, her breath suddenly hitching in her throat as JJ's hand caught hers, lacing his fingers in between hers, moving her hand to his lips as he placed a soft kiss to the back of her hand. Her eyes shifted quickly to his, and that soft smile appeared along his mouth again as he looked down to her, leaning his face in slowly to hers. "Mel, I couldn't believe that you left. I never wanted you to leave me."
Amelia allowed her face to remain only an inch from JJ's, feeling his hot breath against her face. Her eyes looked to his, and she felt like she was going to throw herself at him at any given moment. "Then why did you leave on your dad's boat? Why didn't you come back and talk to me?" She asked him, and she could see the sadness wash over his face as the guilt wafted over him over what he did. "And why... why did you take Kiara? You don't know how much that hurt."
JJ reached his hands up to Amelia's head, taking her face in both of his hands. "Amelia, listen to me. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry for running away like that." His eyes darted over her face. "I just needed some space. It really hurt find you with Connor. I couldn't believe it." He sighed, staring into her eyes longingly, in hope that she would forgive him. "I just didn't know how to process it. But it's okay. It doesn't matter to me. It doesn't affect what we have."
