I'VE BEEN INSIDE THE MADRIGALS' CASITA MULTIPLE TIMES

but seeing the glowing doors this close is pretty sick.

i followed señor agustin's back as we are approaching the door to mirabel's room.

seeing a door with its paint fading away, we finally stopped.

"you go first, mija." he said, as he signaled towards the door.

upon opening the door, we were greeted by her trying to cover up something behind her back. it's glowing, mirabel. how are you gonna hide that?

señor agustin didn't seem to notice this at first, heartily saying something about putting mira's party pants.

do all dads say that? gosh, i need a dad.

anyways, as he went closer, it appears that he has already noticed, that mirabel is trying to hide something.

it was pretty obvious too, seeing as it's green and glowing.

mirabel, caught red-handed, decided to confess while her dad was wide eyed and shocked.

"i...broke into bruno's tower, i found his last vision, the family's in danger, the magic is dying, the house is breaking, luisa's gift is fading, and i think it's all because of...me?" one word after another, not a single stutter, and phrases more shocking than the other, i listened as her story went on.

señor agustin pushed away mirabel gently, trying to see what she was hiding.

although my view was limited, i could still see the glowing glass-like thing.

it was mirabel with their house broken.

oh, so she wasn't drunk back then? ha, thought so.

i heard the loud sound of the bell, signaling the arrival of the guzman's.

after hearing it, señor agustin finally said something despite being in a daze.

"we say nothing. abuela wants tonight to be perfect so until the guzmans leave, you did not break into bruno's tower, the magic is not dying, the house is not breaking, luisa's gift is not fading..."

he grabs us both as he continued what he was saying.

"no one will know, just act normal, no one has to know." he whispered, trying to be as quiet as possible.

our conversation was interrupted, though as we heard a sound from across the hallway.

it was one of mira's cousins, dolores, i think.

"i know." she lowly whispered, producing a "hm" sound after.

"she's going to tell everyone." mirabel whispers knowingly.

"time to eat!" a voice downstairs exclaimed.

"miércoles..." señor agustin never gets a break, huh?

"come on, you're coming to dinner with us." mirabel motioned for me to come. she grabbed my hand, dragging me downstairs to where everyone awaits.

i just got dragged into this mess, didn't i?

i hate my life.

the three of us approached the older woman, the one that holds the candle. she's señora alma, right?

"abuela, this is y/n. i was just wondering if she could join us for dinner...?" mirabel pressed her hand against my back as she forced an awkward smile.

i didn't ask for this, mira.

the woman was a bit shocked but managed to regain her composure.

"well, the more the merrier, right?" she joked, looking at señora guzman for approval.

the woman just lightly laughed, showing that it's no problem.

once their laughter died down, mirabel guided me towards a seat.

what a surprise it was to be seated beside the one and only, isabela madrigal.

she was visibly surprised to see me for a moment. however, she hid it with another of her fake smile.

she great at faking her own emotions, huh?

i looked around the table. they all had familiar faces. i'm unaware of their names and personalities seeing as i've only met mira and her parents...and her attractive older sister.

removing my eyes from their faces, i focused on the girl in front of me who was lightly sweating, waiting for an opportunity to reveal the secret. i fixed my posture and leaned on the chair as i was finally able to relax a bit.

well, this is going to be interesting.
