The Hatake was shocked at her words. To train her to be a shinobi? Not only would that take years but he was no teacher, the man was just an Anbu with contracts to kill and missions to complete. He knew nothing about teaching but when he saw her, her sharp green eyes, he recognized something within them. A fire that burned brightly with determination, the Konoha will of fire. He could not refuse nor pull away his gaze from her.

"I can try... But I make no promises " he muttered softly in response to the girl, her will overpowering his at the moment.

She was a mystery. A civilian with a dead brother affiliated with one of the most deadly shinobi alive. She was a civilian with eyes that spoke of untold pains and sufferings. What had happened to her? Her family? Her brother? Who is she ? The girl with fire in her eyes.

After their agreement Akemi went to bury her brother, giving her loved one his final resting place and saying her final goodbyes. She had left kakashi behind, preferring privacy than a shoulder to cry on. She had left him to wait and regret his promises until she returned.

What was he thinking? He could not possibly train her, he had missions to complete and people to eliminate. He still had to hunt down the rest of orochimaru's followers and gather information him. The male could not just abandon his mission to teach this girl to be a shinobi but he could not exactly abandon her either. He owed it to her, by killing her brother- no matter the circumstances, he owed it to help her avenge her loved one. He knew how much it hurt to lose someone he loved, the unanswered questions, the pain, the wish for it to be different and the desire to do something. Training her would be the least thing he could do to help the girl get some closure but it was going to be hard, training her while on a mission.

Soon Akemi came back, her figure appearing on the horizon of the setting sun. The girl looked like she had been to hell and back. Her eyes were red and puffy, her cheeks streaked with more tears than she had cried in years and her hands were filthy with the dirt from her brother's grave. She looked absolutely miserable but yet she moved on, she continued forward. She walked back to the silver haired shinobi, her new teacher in the arts that her aunt had forbidden her to learn but she had to. She had to avenge her brother, she had to know what happened to him and to do that she would have to become a shinobi. She would have to abandon her peaceful life for one of bloodshed and betrayal, the life she was always meant to lead. The girl couldn't even bear to say goodbye to the aunt who raised her, the one she had just forsaken by leaving the village with a shinobi of the leaf.

"Are you sure you want to do this? " the male soon spoke as he stood up from the tree which he was leaning on, looking down at the red headed girl.

" yeah... I'm sure... "

{ a few months later }

Akemi had spent the last few months training with kakashi while he continued his mission. They traveled from village to town to city to country, working to gather information about the rogue sannin and to train Akemi in the shinobi arts.

She was a quick learner and a natural at most things. Her taijutsu was quick and light, often delivering lightning fast strikes to key points and preferring to use her kicks to do so. Her genjutsu was mediocre, her favorite technique and the only one she could really use was the hidden in mist jutsu. A technique which cloaks the area in a heavy mist and creates several small mirages around their target. She failed to grasp even the basics of medical jutsu, only able to heal a scrape or cut, maybe a bruise if she worked really hard but the thing she excelled at was not that.

Akemi was great at ninjutsu, despite having only trained for a few months she could use two chakra natures, wind her primary and water her secondary. She was able to do A-rank techniques and even some S-ranked ones though not as efficiently. Looking at her now it would have seemed impossible for her to be a mere civilian just a few months ago but she wasn't just a mere civilian anyways, she was Akemi Akai. She was and still is the heir to the Akai clan and she wanted vengeance for the injustice dealt to her. She wanted to hunt down orochimaru and this determination caused her to grow and become such a strong shinobi in such a little time.
