this chapter is all over the place but in my defense, I'm on my period again 😁
..................

It's been a week.

Time always moves faster whenever they settle down. Whenever there's a lurking feeling of anxiety creeping on the hairs of their necks. An itchy, scratchy, crawling feeling of fear lies dormant under their skin each day that passes.

The question that they all have but don't say aloud for fear of scaring the others; Are we really safe here? No matter how much they try to convince themselves, they're never really safe anywhere they go. They've already made that assumption a while ago at the safe camp.

There was a broken radio they've stolen from the camp that Jiwoo had managed to fix. It crackled and cut off sometimes but they were able to tune into military stations with it. They've tried talking into it in hopes of a response but never got any.

And Jeongguk asks about his father. He was supposed to come and save them before the outbreak in the camp happened. But no one's heard a helicopter or a similar aircraft in months. There's no emergency sirens, no more safety alerts or survivor camps. Sometimes, he thinks they may be the only humans alive. But the occasional gunfire he hears every other night proves that there's people out there like them. Fighting for their lives, protecting their loved ones.

Hoseok has recovered. Well, he isn't sick anymore. His eyes are still a pale grey but his skin color is healthy and back to normal. As normal and healthy as it can be in an apocalypse, anyway. The only difference is that he's easily agitated. There's mood swings, sometimes vicious ones too. Jimin assumes it's due to the virus still in his body. While he may be immune to the main effects of it, he shows symptoms that the zombies have. Uncoordinated footsteps, trouble speaking, pale eyes and irritability.

And Namjoon is still in pain. He passed out a few nights ago from being in so much pain after Jimin had to redo his stitches. It was especially hard for Jimin because he didn't want Namjoon to get addicted to the strong pain medication but that meant lowering his dosage. And with Jeongguk still having some pain from his wounds and whoever else needed the medication, they were running low on it. They are also running low on food. Which meant that they needed to go on a supply run.

Now, Yoongi stands by the bathroom door and watches as Seokjin helps Namjoon into the shower. He had offered to help multiple times but Seokjin insisted that he has it all under control. His heart ached every time Namjoon hissed in pain and seeing the deep scar on his abdomen just broke his heart completely.

The water runs warm over Namjoon's aching body. It feels nice. Kind of numbing. There's a sense of relief as he exhales and leans against the tiled wall of the shower. Seokjin squeezes some soap on to a wash towel and lathers it up. Namjoon's body is very dirty. Caked with dirt, dried blood and sweat. Jimin had heavily advised that he shower or else he could catch an infection.

"I'll go find a towel and some clothes for him to change into," Yoongi says to Seokjin before leaving the bathroom. He made sure to close the door as well.

He's sort of been a third wheel recently but part of him doesn't mind. Namjoon is one of his top priorities and he would not leave his side unless he asked him to himself. So Yoongi put up with being around the couple as an outsider. If it meant that he could be sure of Namjoon's safety and health, he'd do it for the rest of his life.

When he went into one of the bedrooms, probably the parents' room of the family who owned this house before they settled into it, he walked into an argument. Well, more like a rant. Hoseok was complaining that no one wanted to be around him anymore and that everyone treated him like glass. In his own words, "you guys walk on eggshells whenever I'm around!"
