14- Tell me the truth

Sorry about that, was kinda busy for the last two weeks so I didn't have time to write chapters in advance and all (and I got lazy yesterday's evening and played Valorant p:). To my defense, the chapter was very long to write haha

"Would you like some coffee, chérie?"

"I'm craving for one, thanks."

Everything was back to usual. [A/n] was back in her workshop, finally able to work until nightfall (or until sunrise). She was very busy as she had been absent for at least two weeks, agents have been coming by her workshop more often. It did not bother her but what was annoying was that she could not find any of her tools. She had spent two entire days going back and forth to see Cypher so he would give back to her screwdrivers, wrench, hammer, and so on. At the end of the second day, she threatened him with her heavy hammer so he would stop stealing from her - or at least, for a while. Difficult to say if it worked. Now that everything was back to normal and she had everything she needed, she could work properly. Chamber had been by her side for these past two days, still on the lookout to make sure she would not push herself too hard like she always did. Luckily, she could not ignore him when he told her to go to sleep as she was staying at his penthouse at the moment and had no spare key. She liked his place. It was more welcoming than her room here. Not that she did not like the headquarters, but there was something about his place that made her want to stay. She could not understand what it was but she planned to make the most of it.

Chamber was carrying two cups of burning coffee in his hands as he walked back to her. The agents were not in his way as much when he was around [A/n] so he could enjoy his time with the woman in peace, but he knew that he was still being watched by others. He knew of Cypher, it was quite obvious as he spied on absolutely everyone, but someone had started to keep an eye on him as well, he could see their gaze on him. He was suspecting either Sova or Viper considering he could not track them down easily. For now, he did not have to worry about anything so he could just enjoy his peaceful time with his partner.

Once he arrived, the door was wide opened, laughter echoing in the room. Intrigued, he hurried up to see who was in there. He passed the doorway and saw Breach and [A/n] talking. Chamber came closer and set down her cup of hot coffee on the desk, catching both of their attention.

"Ah, Chamber! Thank you very much!" she thanked him with a smile, reveling in the smell of the coffee that filled her nostrils.

Breach smiled and greeted him. "Bonjour, Monsieur Breach," he said back to him with his fake smile.

The woman took a quick sip of the beverage before standing up, keeping her cup with her. "I'll be right back. I need to head to the shooting range."

Chamber seemed surprised by her statement. "Is there any problem?"

She shook her head, reaching out for a few tools to put them in a bag. "Not really. But the guys were training on a bot that Killjoy and Raze built or something a few days ago and some guns are jammed, not working, missing ammo, and so on. So my help is needed. Also, Killjoy needed my help for one of her projects, hopefully, it won't take long."

"Should I come as well?"

"No, no!" She stopped him right away, putting her hands between them. "This is my part of the job, not yours. Plus, it should not take a long time."

She gave him a warm smile and he gave up, not wanting to push her further. He gave her a nod and off she was with Breach by her side to the shooting range. She sure was busy lately.
