Chapter 3
Maximus was bleary eyed and groggy but he had enough anger to push his freezing body to move towards where the large crash had come from. It was not hard to trace where the thing had come from because of the debris and smoke that seemed to waft from an Easterly direction.
Risking one more look to the sky Maximus was able to make out that it was around five in the morning and some of the warmth would be returning soon. Which meant he would not be too cold for that much longer at least.
With a bit more confidence the Prince kept his gaze now locked onto the distance which faintly outlined a broken down shuttle. From what he could see there was smoke rising from the front and there were various dings and dents on the side, also there looked like a broken window at the back of the craft; which meant no survivors as the people aboard most likely got sucked out into the void of space.
With a wince the Prince slowly felt his anger dissipate the closer he got to the crashed shuttle, and the closer he got the more damage that he could see.
It did not look good but Maximus knew that there could be some good stuff from the shuttle, or if it was repairable then maybe he would have a chance to get away.
As the Prince finally stood in front of the crashed object he could now see that it was an automatic pilot shuttle; there didn't need to be a pilot to drive this thing, it was automatic. The destination needed to be typed in before the shuttle took you there in the safest route.
However, looking at the banged up craft now Maximus knew that there was no way that the shuttle was set to the safest path this time.
Just looking at all of the dents on the outside told a story in itself. Clearly the ship had been going through one of Saturn's rings and got beaten up by the floating debris that made up the structure, though that should not have been the safest route.
Scratching his head in confusion the Prince was quick to find the easiest accessible opening of the shuttle before he was carefully climbing in through the smashed window.
There were only a few minor scratches on his arms and legs before he was safely amongst the carnage that had been caused from the faulty shuttle.
Squinting his eyes to see better the Prince could see that almost all of the useful and rare things aboard had either been damaged or sucked out from the window, there did seem to be an interesting looking pair of wires on the floor though that Maximus had never seen before.
Intent on exploring the wires he did not look down when he walked and was shocked to hear a pain filled moan as the Prince thoughtlessly stepped on someone's or something's leg.
In amazement Maximus now bent his knees to look at the grey figure in a pressure suit that was huddled around a big black bag, tightly curled in on themself except for the one leg that was laid out on the floor.
Grunting to himself in frustration from the lack of light he was quick to scoop the lone figure from the cold ground and somehow managed to get back out of the open window.
At this point the morning light was now filtering in and breaking past the tree lines, causing a beautiful ethereal glow to take over the surrounding area that the light touched. It was the perfect amount of light for Maximus to see that the thing he was holding was not a grey suit, but a white one that was filthy and covered in various spots of blood.
Plus the helmet that the thing was wearing also had a tinted visor so the Prince could see nothing else other than his own reflection.
Knowing that this was not the safest place to be right now he trekked back to the small make-shift cave and gathered his weapons before taking himself and the passed out creature further East, knowing that he was not far from the other cave at this point.
