FROM THE ASHES

[Prologue]

...It was May of 2025...That's when shit hit the fan...The climate was changing faster than we expected. Sea levels rose after the thought to be impossible category six hurricane, "Tempest." struck the southern United States. Then there were Russians drilling in Antarctica. The sea level rose so high, that it flooded almost every port across the globe. destroying the shipping economy and food supplies all over the globe. the fires and the economy dropping in Europe didn't help either. in 2027 the fires spread all over Western and Eastern Europe. In 2030 the first few to fall was Germany, Poland, Estonia, and then Ukraine.  Then a few others followed. Many countries displaced their citizens. causing massive amounts of refugees to pile at borders across the globe. And with that, a Task force formed a task force made up of Ex-Soldiers, Mercenaries, and more from all over the globe. 2035, A rouge American military satellite with the name "Olympus-1" struck the globe with an experimental EMP weapon, causing a long but temporary blackout all across the globe. knocking out almost every one of the world's satellites, knocking out Russian and U.S. spy satellites with them. With the satellites gone, and the stress of what the hell happened. The two global superpowers pointed fingers at each other, and then soon came the Russia/U.S. War in 2040...

Months after the war started. Witness reports from all over the globe were all talking about the same thing...Anthropomorphic carnivorous animals. At first, the rumors seemed to just be made up. as some sort of joke. Over time reports came in more and more. When the globe finally acknowledged that they existed. about six months later...They had already started to slowly take over...They became more and more aggressive with their actions and started taking over cities, and towns all across Europe and Asia. Months later. they were already taking over the western side of Russia, China, North and South Korea...They then came to the United States. hiding In ships, they unbelievably stood on their hind legs and already figured out how to use guns and...human speech. starting a secondary conflict.  Years went by, and then the day happened...2043... What was left of the U.N. and NATO made probably the hardest decision they could ever make. As a last resort in an attempt to stop the spread of the anthros. They launched a four-man Squad to the ISS. Before every country With ICBMS... Nuked each other until no one could launch anymore...as that happened, we went into CryoSleep...two hundred and seventy-seven miles above the world we once knew...A-s it destroyed itself below...

There is a hissing-like sound, and one of the cryo Chambers opens. I sit up from the cold silicone-feeling chamber and look around. I step out from the capsule and stumble out of the cryo Chamber, I trip and face plant on the floor, I stand up. Brushing off the non-existent dust,  touching my nose a bit after falling onto the floor making sure I wasn't bleeding. "Fuuuuuuuck that hurt..."

 I look around the room at the other cryo chambers in the room once again as I rub my nose, you then start to walk but as you do you wobble a bit as you walk to the control room of the space station, it takes you a few minutes to find it but you do, you walk to the main control room then out of nowhere you hear ships AI named E.V.A speak which makes you jump for a second.

"Hello Jack, it's good to see you awake."

There was an awkward silence for a moment before I answered. "Yeah, thanks..."  E.V.A. speaks again in a questioning manner. "Maybe you should wake the others up."  "I'll do that after I take my shower real quick," I say as I walk to the bathroom. A few minutes go by until I come back out, drying off my hair with the towel. Before tossing it back into the bathroom and putting on my fresh uniform. "Now I'll wake everyone else up." I walk back into the Cryo chamber room then I go to each one, pushing the button to wake everyone else up. "Wakey, Wakey, guys." The first one to wake up is Ethan, He sits up and then looks at me, with a squint-eyed confused look on his face. "What?" I ask. "How the hell did you wake up first?" He asks, "I don't know." I say shrugging. Ethan just shakes his head. Peter sits up and rubs the bridge of his nose then starts feeling around. "Where are my glasses?" He asks as he feels around. I walk over to the Cryo chamber that Peter is sitting in and pick up his glasses off the little desk next to it."Here you go." I placed it on his nose, which spooked him for a second, Peter adjusted his glasses. "Danke" He says. "Alright, Jack you stay here and help everyone else wake up, then meet me in the Control room when everyone is ready."  He turns around and then walks out. After a few minutes, now that everyone is Awake, the three of us walk to the control room to see Ethan looking down at Earth from the window, and then he turns around to look at us. "We will be" leaving in 20 minutes, get ready. The four of us walk into the armory to get ready to drop. I clip on the pieces of my armor then slide on my helmet I look around checking the thermal imaging on the helmet, I grab my Benelli M4 and extra shotgun shells, I then put all the equipment that I need, and I put on my tactical backpack, I watch Ethan pick up a machine that I know creates bullets for the squad whenever they need it. "Are you sure we should bring something that heavy with us?" Luke mentioned. "It's the Lighter version, why would I carry the really heavy one?" Ethan asks. "I dunno you always want to look tough as hell." Me and Peter chuckle at Luke's comment. Mainly because we knew it was true. " Alright laugh it off, guys..." Ethan uttered before mumbling something under his breath. "Heheheheh, Sorry Ethan."
