Dylan and I went on a breakfast date before she dropped me off at the Morell offices and she left for college. I sat working on some more projects.
"Spence?" Fallon asked closing the office door behind her. "Why haven't you gone back to school yet?" I shrugged. "Are you okay?"
"I'm a work in progress," I said.
"Aren't we all?" Fallon asked. "You wanna tell me the truth?"
"I'm now paranoid of everything. I can't even control it and it's knocking me all out of wack," I said. Fallon pulled me to my feet wrapping her arms around me.
"Have you told Dylan how you're feeling?" Fallon asked.
"No," I said.
"Are you still seeing your therapist?" Fallon asked.
"I see her three times a week," I said.
"Okay. Now, how about we go home so Steven can tell Daddy he's running for office," Fallon said. I nodded. We drove home and walked in. Daniel and Lex were stood up walking around with the babies. Steven and Fallon sat in armchairs and Dad and Cristal were sat on the couch.
"Did I miss it?" Fallon asked.
"Miss what?" Dad asked.
"Thanks for coming," Steven told Fallon. "I wanted to talk to you about something. Fallon already knows,"
"You're not gay, are you?" Dad joked.
"Worse. I've decided to run for city council," Steven said.
"Why do that?" Dad asked.
"Pamela Hu isn't running in district 13. I wanna do something constructive, positive, helpful," Steven said.
"You sound like a Democrat," Dad told Steven.
"At least he's not a criminal," Cristal said. "We could use more good people in politics. We could use more Democrats,"
"If you wanna give back, volunteer at a soup kitchen. Politics is a full-contact sport," Dad said.
"I know that," Steven said.
"Your past becomes fair game," Dad said.
"Wait what if they find out that Steven used to be the funny child?" I asked.
"There's no way he was ever the funny child," Daniel said.
"Before you were born he was the only child so he had to be the funny child," I said.
"Oh dear lord," Daniel said. Steven turned to look at us both. We smiled at him.
"You don't have a great track record. A month ago, you were snorting half of Manhattan up your nose," Dad said.
"Blake," Cristal said.
"Daddy," Fallon said at the same time. "Don't be old-fashioned. A couple more felonies, he could be president,"
"I have to get to the office. Puppies won't kill themselves," Dad said walking out.
"Well, that went well," Fallon said. "Spence, you coming back with me?" Fallon asked.
"Why don't you stay here with me?" Lex asked.
"I've got to go out," Daniel said.
"Okay," I said.
"Behave," Fallon said kissing my head. I nodded. Daniel handed me, Rio. We walked upstairs and lay on Lexi's bed.
"How's school?" Lex asked.
"I wouldn't know. I haven't gone back," I said.
"Are you planning on going back?" Lex asked.
"Eventually but I don't know," I said.
"I know it's not entirely the same thing but when I first moved to America I was scared of living alone in a big city so I took self-defense classes. Maybe it's something you could look into. You and Dylan could go together," Lex said.
"I'll think about it," I said.
Timeskip
I was in the kitchen making myself food.
"That looks like a heart attack waiting to be eaten," Fallon said.
"Fatty heart, happy stomach," I said.
"Until you're having heart surgery," Fallon said.
"Do Carrington's have hearts?" I asked. Fallon laughed.
"I don't know about the rest of us but you've got one," Fallon said.
"You seem off considering you've had alcohol," I said. "Something on your mind?"
"Jeff proposed to me tonight," Fallon said.
"I thought you broke up," I said.
"We did but he still proposed. I didn't say yes or no but you can't tell anyone okay?" Fallon asked. I nodded plating up my food. "So why are you still awake?"
"I couldn't sleep," I said.
"I'm going upstairs to change come upstairs to my room after you've eaten," Fallon said. I nodded. I finished eating and went upstairs to Fallon's room.
Timeskip
I woke up to Fallon's phone going off.
Where are you? I've been trying you all night. Anyway, I pulled out all the stops, and I think she fell for it. I hate lying to her, but I trust you. So, go get a rock on that finger.
"Is that Monica talking about you?" I asked.
"Sam forwarded all of Jeff's calls to my phone," Fallon said. "I'm gonna go speak to Culhane," I stood up. "No. You're not getting involved,"
"Why can't I help you?" I asked.
"Because whether or not you like it Spencer you're a child and I don't need you mixed up in this mess," Fallon said.
"So I get treated like an adult when it suits everyone but when it doesn't I'm just a little kid," I said. Fallon sighed and sat down on the bed.
"I'm so protective over you because you have a big, heart of gold--" I cut Fallon off.
"Excuse you I'm 100% diamond," I said. Fallon smiled.
"I'm over protective of you because you have such a big heart which is rare for Carringtons and I don't want something to happen that's gonna make your heart shatter and hurt you. I don't want you to build walls to protect yourself like the rest of us have. So me treating you like a kid is protecting that heart of yours," Fallon said.
"But now I feel useless," I said.
"You're not useless. I'm gonna need your help later on," Fallon said.
"But for now you're patting me on the head and sending me to go play?" I asked.
"No. I'm tossing you in the sandpit with a juice box," Fallon said.
