ANNABELLE

MY BODY SHOOK as a big explosion echoed in the distance. I grabbed onto Wanda's hand and gave it a tight squeeze. I glanced up at them as they shared a glance.

"Report to your station immediately. This is not a drill. We are under attack." A man called over the speaker.

My body trembled in fear as more gunshots and explosions rang from outside.

We stood in one of the main areas where they held all their computers and equipment. The men around talking about how to deal with the intruders outside. Pietro wrapped his arm around my shoulders and pulled me to his side as he watched the men work.

"Who gave the order to attack?" Strucker asked as he stormed into the room.

"Here Strucker," Two soldiers saluted him. "-it's the Avengers."

"They landed in the far woods. The perimeter guard panicked."

"They have to be after the scepter. Can we hold them?" Strucker asked.

"They're the Avengers." The guy repeated, not sure what to do.

I had only heard of the Avengers on the news occasionally, when I'm allowed.

"Deploy the rest of the tanks. Concentrate fire on the weak ones. A hit may make them close ranks." Strucker ordered. "Everything we've accomplished...But we're on the verge of our greatest breakthrough."

"Then let's show them what we've accomplished. Send out the twins and the girl." Dr. List suggested to Strucker. Wanda and Pietro exchanged nervous glances while Pietro's grip on my shoulder tightened. Strucker glanced over at us, I quivered under his gaze.

"It's too soon." Strucker told him.

"It's what they signed up for." Dr. List pressed.

"Annie didn't sign up for this." Pietro grumbled as he looked away from us. I chewed on the inside of my lip. I didn't want to fight anyone, but if I didn't they could get rid of me. I looked up at Pietro and Wanda, they had determined expressions that made my stomach churn. They wanted to prove themselves, they've always wanted to prove themselves.

I may not know much about the Avengers but I did know a man by the name of Tony Stark was Iron Man. And I knew Wanda and Pietro wanted revenge for what Stark Industries did to their family.

"My men can hold them." Struck told Dr. List. Men rushed to get outside.

"We will not yield! The Americans sent their circus freaks to test us. We will send them back in bags. No surrender!" Strucker boomed.

"Come on." Wanda whispered to me as she gently pulled me with her and Pietro.

"What are we doing?" I asked as we walked through a tunnel.

"We're going to show those Americans who they're messing with." Pietro said with a stern expression. He tapped my shoulder and looked down at me. "Follow me, okay?"

I nodded as Pietro picked up Wanda bridal style before running out of the tunnel. I sighed before following after him. A dark blue hue trailing behind me. He stopped on a row of train tracks, setting Wanda back down on her feet.

"Find the Avengers and take them down. Make them fall back. Don't let anything else get destroyed." Pietro instructed as he looked down at me. I nodded before running towards the commotion.

I saw a man in a blue suit with a large circular shield running towards one of the bunkers. I ran into his shoulder, making him fly up. I turned back and saw that he had landed on his knees. I looked over at the bunker and saw the gun aiming towards the man. It shot one of the explosive bullets. My heart raced as I stopped in my place and threw my hand out, a blue hue illuminating my hand as well as the bullet as it stopped before hitting the man's side. He looked down quickly at the bullet before looking up and spotting me. I panicked. I threw my arm to the side and the bullet flew to a different direction, and I ran away.

I felt someone grab my hand and I was pulled into a large room. I stopped and saw that Pietro was the one that had grabbed my hand. I looked around as Pietro let go of me.

"What's going-" I began to ask but Pietro cut me off as he and Wanda looked at a man. The man was circling the scepter that we were supposed to be protecting. Pietro took a step forward to fight the man, but Wanda stopped him.

"We're just gonna let him take it?" Pietro asked her.

The man raised his hand and a red metal gauntlet flew past us and attached to his hand. I jumped at the loud sound it made that echoed through the room. As the man grabbed the scepter I studied the metal hand.

Through my time at Hydra they had me study multiple subjects and it turns out that I am pretty smart. I think. I have nothing to really compare it to.

As more pieces of metal flew and attached to the man's body, I became more curious as to how it all worked.
