“DAMNIT!” I yelled. “What the hell are you talking about? There is absolutely no way that someone from my multi million dollar company stole 3 million dollars” is shouted through the phone at one of my private detectives and also my best friend/ brother in law Joshua McCarthy . I couldn’t believe this was happening. I brought this company up from the grounds since I was 18 years old and all the people with it. I can’t believe someone did this, not only that but it was one of my own people. “Beverly, please come to my office. I have something important to discuss with you” I said in the PA. “Coming right away Mr. Gold” Beverly responded and in seconds she arrived in my office. She was wearing a black body suit that was slim on the waist, her long golden hair was tied up unto a bun and she was wearing heavy makeup which never appealed to me. “What is it Brandon? You said you’ve had something important to tell me?” Beverly said as she hovered over my desk. The moment I turned away from my paperwork I realized that she was showing me her cleavage and had moved her hand onto mine.
“Bev, I told you in the office you call me by my formal name. This thing that happened between us is over. And was a one time thing and that means its not going to happen again.” I said, staring at her with a straight face. She rolled her eyes and sat down in the chair in front of my desk. Crossing her arms and legs. “Don’t you think I know that. I’ve had plenty of hook-ups, I’m not a child. I just thought because we were friends before we had sex we can be friends after.” She said, “I sighed. She’s right we were and still are friends but it's not that I can just forget about our past that easily. I mean I still can’t get Cori out of my head. I haven’t seen her in a while and I just want to know if she’s alright. “Bev can you do me a favor and call in Josh for a moment, you’re dismissed.” I said standing up from my chair and started searching through my file drawer. “But I thought you had something to discuss with me? You said it was important-.” “It doesn’t matter anymore, you may go” I cut her off, she rolled her eyes and left. Moments later Josh arrives. “Hey bean, what’s up?” he said. “ don’t call me bean Josh, I have a favor to ask you and it's highly exclusive” I said. “Huh! Are you okay? You are doing that thing when you get serious” he said, landing his hand on my back. “ What are you talking about?” I retorted. “Ah! Ya know. That thing when you furrow your eyebrows and crinkle your nose” he said as he was trying to mimic the face he described I was doing at that moment.
Josh and I have been friends since I was 6 and so he knows me more than anyone does, sometimes even myself these days. Our families grew up together and we both had wealthy families. Then around the time I started my business I found out that he was sleeping with my sister and we got into a huge argument about it, but she got pregnant and Josh proposed to her. My parents only accepted him because they say that Josh and my sister maya where going to be forced into marriage because the legacy is for the first two born of the opposite sex will be destined for marriage. I have an older brother too but he was disowned before I even got to know him. My family never told me why and I didn't care at the moment.
"So what you're asking me..is to do illegal background searching on Cori Jones' family..for what exactly? Wait, are you talking about that girl who walked in here a couple years ago about her grandma or something?" He said. "It was because she was lost and something happened to her at her school and yes." I said searching on my phone for criminal records for Marcus Jones. hours later when dug up enough research and evidence to confront the courts and get Marcus Jones on trial and Cori and her family safe. I decided I should call her with everything going on she should know about. "Hello, who is this?" She said gently, she sounded like she had just woken up. "Hey, Cori, it's me Brandon... Mr. G-". "M.. Mr. Gold?! H...how did you get my number? What's going on?" She asked, her voice became much clearer but filled with worry. "Everything is alright, but I may have a solution for you to finally get out of that house, meet me at the address I'll send you in email tomorrow sharp in the morning" I said. "O..oh I..um...have school tomorrow" she stuttered. "Alright then tomorrow at 6, don't be late and follow the instructions on the email. Goodbye".
