Katniss pov

The elevator jerks me forward as it moves higher and higher, signalling that someone else has presses the button. I lurch forward and press the button for floor 12 but from the small screen above the door I can tell the person who wants this elevator is from floor 11. Pushing myself against the back of the elevator, I grab onto the railing as the elevator slows down before halting. I watch as the doors slide open and reveal a man with dark skin and cropped hair.

His soft smile is a stark contrast to his strong build, showing that he doesn't pose a threat. At least not yet. "Excuse me" he says politely and I blush, embarrassed as I move my bags that were blocking him. He clears his throat as he steps in and we both stare straight ahead, "I haven't seen you around here before" he says as the doors slide shut. The elevator shakes dangerously as it moves up to my floor, keeping me alert.

"I'm new" I answer shortly, trying the avoid conversation. I've never liked being social.

"I hope we get the chance to see each other, there's not many new people around here or girls", I awkwardly nod in reply. "I'm Thresh" he says turning to me before reaching out a hand. I pry my fingers from the metal railing before shaking his hand, feeling his strong grip.

"I'm Katniss" I reply moving my hand away as the elevator slows down, "this is my stop".

"Okay" he mummers smiling at me "it was nice meeting you" he says as the doors slide open and I rush out, "I'll see you soon Katniss". Just as I'm about to say 'bye' the doors slide shut and continues his journey. I hate elevator's. I tighten my grip on my bags as I turn and walk straight down the hall to a set of double doors. Glancing up I read the number '36D', the penthouse. Looking around I release that this is the only flat on the floor so I smile, grateful that I won't be disturbed.

Using the key Gale gave to me, I unlock the door and shut it behind me, glancing around at the flat? No, this is nowhere near the flat I envisioned, this is a mansion, a penthouse. There's no-way that this is a single flat. I wonder if I get this then what do all the other boys get? Do they have to share rooms? What if they have a fight and one leaves, do they get the room or go after them?

Shaking my head I walk around the room in awe. The walls are painted grey and in front of me is what seems to be a living room. In the centre of the room is a hexagon shaped table, surrounded by a curved, black leather couch. Then behind it is a huge window showing the skyline. Walking over I drop my bags and satchel on the couch before looking out the window. Below me I can see the main part of the Capitol which seems to be the school and the only people I can see are boys. Are there any females here? Maybe I should have let myself fail despite the consequences.

I glance around at the few trees that sway from the breeze before seeing what's almost like a heard of boys coming out of a classroom. I can't identify their faces as their huddled together but I can tell there loud as I can hear them from up here. I squint trying to see each person in an attempt to put a voice to a face but all I can see is a mixture of hair varying from black to ginger when a boy's head snaps up. I jerk away from the window and rush down the corridor slamming the first door I see, shut. I close my eyes and breathe heavily trying to calm my racing heartbeat. Why am I so worked up? Right, boys creep me out, I know its childish but I feel like when it comes to relationships and friendship, boys just don't understand and see everything as a joke, whereas I think the majority of girls, including me, take almost everything seriously.

I push off the door before realizing I'm in what seems to be the bedroom, my bedroom. The room's empty apart from a king-sized bed, with a blue and lime green pillow and blanket. Then on the left side of the wall is a screen which appears to change but can be used as a TV. Dropping my backpack on the bed, the only thing I didn't leave on the couch, I pull out a set of pyjamas and get changed before tossing everything into a corner of the room, too lazy to search for a cupboard.

I can tell there are more rooms but I'm currently too lay and tired to search them all so I'll continue my tour in the morning. I climb into bed and tug the duvet up to my shoulders before heavily exhaling trying to block out the sound of boys screaming. I know its early but I have to be focused for tomorrow so sleep is important.

I let my eyes drift close all the while, wondering how tomorrow's interview will go, as it determines how my relationship will be with the school and teachers and well...the students. Won't this be fun. I hope I don't get that class.
