10 sort of random thoughts about Margo, Edith, and Agnes from Despicable Me and why I personally believe they're blood siblings.

Just like Riley from Inside Out, I'm pretty sure Edith's appearance is from recessive family genes.

Both Edith and Margo have smiling face dimples

Agnes and Margo both have curled ends on their face when their hair is up. So same hair thickness and structure.

Edith and Margo both have a round puffed nose

Agnes' attachment to unicorns is always why she carries one around. So why does Edith always wear the pink hat? She doesn't even take it off to go swimming! So I'm assuming it's more than her just wearing pink. She enjoys it for some specific reason.

Since neither of them mentions parents, I'm assuming they died years ago. And since Agnes is 5-6, it must have been pretty early enough for them to be past the grieving process. Or maybe they were just straight up abandoned. Who knows.

Actually, Gru hardly mentions his mother except to make her proud. They do seem to share a book in common, so I'm assuming this must have been something they kept and cherished. Margo is the only one who mentions a dad, saying Gru would never be hers (which is overridden by the end of the movie) and Agnes has to pretend to have a mom in the sequel, so I'm assuming she had zero memory of one if not both parents. And they all seemed eager for Gru to get a date, so they clearly have no issues with a maternal figure. So I'm assuming they're passed the grieving process and maybe the younger ones are too small to really remember their parents. Either that or they had a rocky relationship with their parents and now that they have a real father figure, they want a mother figure too. It could explain why the parents (ANY parents) aren't mentioned.

Then again... where did they get the book and unicorn and hat from? It could be too that maybe the girls had one good parental figure who died very young. (Maybe the mother), and their dad was okay but died sometimes afterwards. It would explain why they talk more about the potential parental looks rather than what their new parents might do. (Until they met Gru). Plus, Margo's first thought was a mom while Edith's first thought was a dad. And if we're going to get technical with symbolism (gee, never thought I'd take a page from school), I'd say "beautiful"= healthy and "sparkly eyes" mean kindness or energy. So I'm assuming their mom died and they missed her (which is why they still have a preschool/baby book at their age) and then either they didn't have a good relationship with their dad or it deteriorated after her death and then he just died afterwards or CD abandoned them.

Why are they in dance class? It is just part of the natural curriculum for orphans? Or for school? Miss Hattie I'm pretty sure does not like children unless they're butt kissers or something. She definitely at least doesn't like the three girls. They've definitely been there long enough for Edith to try and impress her with a mud pie, so they've had to have been there I'd say no less than 4-5 years. I'd say it's a school thing since they're still in dance class when they stay with Gru and when they go back to Miss hattie's.

It's hard to tell with Edith because of the hat, but I'm pretty sure her and Agnes have a flat ridge under their ears. It could be the camera angles, but to me their faces look similar...ish.
