I've made mention of Ever After as one of my favorite Cinderella films. And it is. But I think my equivalent favorite, if not slightly higher favorite is Cinderella, made in 1997 by Rodgers and Hammerstein. It's funny, comical, catchy, and perfectly dramatic. Plus, it's one of the few romance movies that make my heart actually flutter. Which is rare since I'm surprisingly unromantic despite loving romance stories. (It's complicated). I'm only familiar with three of the characters in the film, but my mom knew the girl who plays Cinderella. Apparently, she was a popular singer before getting into a nasty car crash and more-or-less "dropping off the face of the planet" as my mother put it. The queen is one of my favorite characters. She's hysterical! And then the step-mom was funny, the sisters were funny...Lionel is one of my favorite characters! I'm still repeating his lines to this day! There's a jab at the fairy godmother with the tutu and sparkles, the updated version of "In my own little corner" was pretty good; this was a song done in 1957 by Julie Andrews, which I've actually seen one time before. It was pretty good back then too. (Actually, it was done by the same company, so maybe they decided to do a second rendition in color?). And lastly, I like the step-sisters interactions with Cinderella. I think, had the step-mother not been a negative influence, they could have been pretty good friends. There are brief moments of kindness, but not too much. Anyway, I love this film. It's impossible to find, but I just found the full movie on Youtube, so...hopefully it won't be taken down before you get the chance to look at it.

Though as a caution...since it is the late 90's...the graphics won't be fantastic. But it's a great film despite that.
