Gore warning. -Rae

- Mid May, 2046 - (Present Day)

He promised himself that he'd stop leaving in the middle of the night, especially around two or three in the morning, but with the pressure making it hard for him to sleep, he felt like he didn't have much of a choice.

It won't happen again, Jamie thought to himself. Just focus on finding Pat.

Once again, he was walking quietly and sneaking around. This time, in an empty factory. Like before, he wasn't able to use a flashlight because it would give him away. He used the small lined patterns on the wall to help guide him where he needed to go. He'd be nearing the staircase soon.

Jamie turned the corner, recognizing the small hall that led to the stairs. When he picked up the pace of his walking, he slipped in water and ended up falling to the ground. Fuck, he forgot that the last custodian leaves around one in the morning. It's more than likely that they finished mopping before they left.

He groaned quietly, and when he looked in front of him, he squinted his eyes at a folded up piece of paper taped up on the wall. He stood up and grabbed, unfolding it and freezing completely when he saw that it was another book page. He flipped it over and saw not a message, but a number.

5

When he flipped the page over again, he stopped when he saw an ink-like substance where his finger was. Unable to stop himself, he took the flashlight from his pocket and clicked it on, gasping when he saw that he didn't slip in water.

He slipped in blood.

The blood trail led from the ground to the stairs that he originally planned on taking, and his hands grew shaky as he used the flashlight to illuminate the messy trail that was leading up the stairs. At the top of the stairs was a dead body -- Pat's body -- and the blood was coming from two deep gashes in his head and throat.

Jamie gasped again, louder this time, and it took everything in him not to scream. He turned around and started to run back the way he came, breathing heavy from fear.

His blood chilled when he heard a sinister laugh echo throughout the empty factory.
