"Sore?" Tony asked when Jamie approached him outside of the training room.
Sore was an understatement. Training with Victor and the others gave him the distraction he craved, but he knew he would feel it in his limbs tomorrow. Still, he gave Tony a quiet nod and walked beside him on the way to his department.
"I was actually thinking-" Tony was cut off by the sound of rapid approaching footsteps.
Jamie turned his head towards the left to see Wylan and Adrienne speed walking, on the verge of running. "What's going on?" Tony asked them. "Is everything okay?"
"Austin just called," Adrienne said with a grim expression. "We got a bit of a problem. You might want to come too, just in case."
What could be happening now?
As they rushed ahead, Tony turned to Jamie and said, "Follow along, but stay behind, stay quiet, and be ready to run in case something goes wrong."
His stomach twisted, and before he could offer to stay behind, Tony was already racing to catch up with them. Jamie followed, and they all took the stairs to a hidden, but larger training room that he hadn't seen yet. There were layers upon layers of this base, it seemed.
Jamie looked ahead, and his heart started racing when he saw a pissed off Simon dragging a terrified Luca by his collar. He wouldn't lie. Seeing Luca terrified after what he put him through in the lower units yesterday gave him a tiny bit of satisfaction.
"Simon," Luca gasped out, his eyes wide and his voice shaky. "Please, j-just let me explain-"
He was cut off by Simon nearly slamming him against the wall, and Tony gasped, "Don't! You-" his words stopped short when Simon faced him and pinned him -- all of them -- with a sharp glare that said stay the fuck back.
Everyone stopped moving, and Jamie swore they all stopped breathing too. Then he heard Wylan speak to someone over the phone, "Get here. Please."
Luca tried shaking out of his grip, but it was useless. Simon was strong and he was even stronger when he was full of rage. Slowly, he turned his head back towards him and asked, "How long?" in a deep and scary voice that would have everyone sweating.
Jamie gulped. The last time he heard Simon speak in that tone was when he promised Ian that he would violently shred him to pieces.
"I-I..." Luca panted out, and his eyes darted everywhere but Simon's before they squeezed shut. "I was just trying- I swear, I didn't mean-"
"Do not bullshit me, Luca. How long?" Simon repeated a bit sharper.
Jamie's hands were shaking, and he shoved them into his pockets to hide them. When Luca's fear made his breathing grow a bit heavier to the point where he couldn't answer, Simon continued, "It's one thing to be training, but intentionally exposing her to the same shit that nearly killed her?! Have you lost your fucking mind?!"
Adrienne, Tony and Wylan all shared confused and worried looks, and Luca rapidly shook his head. "No, no, no, I swear it's not what it looks like!!"
"Then fucking explain. Now. If-"
He stopped suddenly, and a blank expression washed over his face, like he was in a trance. Sierra popped from around the corner, her hazel eyes glowing. Jamie blinked in shock as he watched her talk softly. "Step back from him."
She can fucking control minds. Holy shit. Is there anything this team can't do? Jamie thought to himself.
Simon released Luca without any hesitation and stepped back from him. Immediately, Tony, Adrienne and Wylan rushed over to him to make sure he wouldn't slump over.
