The Choice

ELEVEN

Maya smiles welcoming her friends to the party. "Hey" she says

"What was so long ago?" Lucas says not letting it go.

"Ohh excuse him, he has been acting up lateley" Zay adds and laughs.

"Nothing to worry about." She says

"Last time she was at a party with Andrew" Josh says with a straight face.

"What?" Lucas asks raising his voice and staring at Andrew.

"Lucass..." Maya calls him with a frown on her face.

"See? Acting up I tell you!" Zay remarks.

"I think we should go, thank you for today Andrew" she says with a smile and hugging him goodbye."Sorry about my friend by the way" she whispears into his ear. She turns to Josh and gives him a weak smile and waves bye.

As soon as they reached the door Zay disappears, leaving Maya and Lucas walking home together.

"What's your deal lately Friar?" Maya breaks the scilence.

"I don't know, what's yours?" He responds.

"What? I don’t have a problem,  you do, so what's the problem?" Maya replies waiting for an answer.

"What about the triangle decision?" He blurts out.

"What about it?!" she asks in confusion.

Lucas directley into her eyes. She stares back for a few seconds until she looks to the other side. "I'ts done Lucas, that is all in the past now we all made that choice then." She says, which is partly true they made that choice together, but she did it for her bestfriend and Lucas.

"Well, that's not what Zay said." Lucas responds.

Maya's whole face shifted to a worried look. "What did he tell you?" she asks concerned. This might be it the moment Lucas finds out about everything, but he can't. She can't get in between Riley's happiness again.

"So it's true then.." Lucas adds.

"What is...? Maya asks.

There is a moment of scilence.

"WHAT IS? Lucas I need you to tell me everything Zay told you, ok? Maya responds.

"You weren't Riley all that time, you were you, you were Maya Hart, of course, how did I not see it before?" He goes on.

"He said that?" She says with a weak voice.

"He didn't have to, Maya I get it now."He says.

"Lucas, stop. Look I don’t like you and I never did. You know who does love you?.... Riles and she is my bestfriend, ok." She replies.

"Tell me you don't like me, to my face look into my eyes and tell me."He replies.

Maya looks at him, she open her mouth but no words come out just a single tear from her watery eyes. Lucas wraps his arms around her to comfort her. She grips tightly to his back. Eventually, tjey break out of their hug but it felt like it lasted the whole night.

"There is just one thing I dont understand..." He says.

"What?" She asks.

"We tried it once between us, and you poured a smoothie over my head?" He responds with a giggle.

"Awww, that was a fun day, but what you tried to tell me was something speacial you had with Riley. I wanted something diffrent and speacial for us. She replies with a smile.

"Wanted?" He asks as they arrive to Maya's apartment complex

"Lucas the choice is made, I want you and Riles to be happy." She says.

Lucas looks at her directly into her eyes, he doesn't know what got into him in that moment or maybe he's always wanted to do it and he kissed her. Maya wanted to resist, but she couldn't, she was stunned. She gets her sense back and pulls away. "No, you can't do that, ever!" She screams and slams the door.

She holds all of her tears until she closes her apartment door and breaks down crying. Katy is sitting down at the couch, and she sees her daughter. "What's wrong sweetie, come here" she comforts. Maya walks to her mom and continues to sobb.
