"Good morning, good morning. I'm starving mom and I'm in a bit of a hurry so make me some breakfast quickly please" I said.
"Hold it right there! Where are you going?" Said mom.
"C'mon Ma you know that I have a biology course now" I said searching for my shoes.
"And I still don't understand why you attend it? You don't need help with biology, you already passed it in school with flying colors and it's going to be a piece of cake for you in college" said mom.
"Mom, can we please have this conversation later?"
"Where is that course anyway?" Said mom.
"I won't answer that" I said.
"Oh.. at Emma's. That's why I'm smelling all this cologne in the air" said mom grinning.
"God here we go again" I said slapping my forehead.
"What?!" Said mom laughing.
"Nothing just give me that omelet I'm already 10 minutes late" I said.
"So what? You're always late anyway. Why would you change that now?" Said mom grinning again.
"Okay that's enough for now see you later" I said.Well, Truth to be told that course was no ordinary occasion.
It was the reason I got attracted to Emma at the first place.
You see, at school Emma was that hot chick who made all boys fall head over heels.
However, I never liked her till I got to know her in this course.Generally, guys drool over girls who take care of themselves and always look perfect with all the makeup and tight bodies and the clothes to show their curves and all that crap, but that's not my thing.
Simplicity, that's how you bring me to my knees.
And she knew how to do that, spontaneously of course not deliberately.I'm a strange guy, I know that.
Normally, When I go to her house, she opens the door for me and there you go: sweatpants, hair made to a messy bun, t-shirt or hoodie when it's cold and slippers or crocs.
And above all, not even liner is applied to her eyes, there isn't a single type of makeup on her face and that just captivates me.I just sit there and admire god's pure creation.
However, I made up mind to ask her out to a party in Sophie's school and I already got three tickets one for me, one for Emma and one for her best friend, so that it would be a friendly invitation not like a date or something and if she says yes then I'll ask her to our prom.
That's my plan. I'm a freakin genius, I know that.
I reached her house, rang the bell and waited.
"Late again?" Said Emma opening the door.
"Not like every time" I said laughing.
"C'mon in, we're about to start" said Emma.
"Okay" I said."Good morning Dr. Brown" I said sitting down.
"Well, it would've been a good morning Mr. Owen if you came on time" said Dr. Brown.
"Yeah, I'm sorry for that, Doctor. it won't happen again" I said scratching the back of my head.
"So you have said the past zillion times. I have only one wish in my life, to see you sitting in that chair when I enter this room" said Dr. Brown.
"Okay Doctor, you have my word that I'll make that wish come true next time" I said laughing.
"Alright, jokes aside. Today we are going to talk about genetics.." Said Dr. Brown as he started the lesson. And I just sat there taking a glance every once in a while at that heavenly pure face waiting for the moment when Dr. Brown says something funny and I get to see that laugh and that smile that makes my heart jump and make me smile idiotically.
And I swear to god that I sometimes catch her smiling at me and when I see her she looks away.I dunno. Maybe I'm just imaging things or even lying to myself.
"Nick!" Said Dr. Brown obviously he noticed that I wasn't paying attention.
"I'm sorry, I'm a little tired, I think I didn't get enough sleep" I said.
"Okay, enough for today" said Dr. Brown.
"Oh thank you thank you thank you" said Emma.
"Oh don't thank me, thank Nick, he's the one who saved you from me today" said Dr. Brown laughing.
"Thank you, Nick" said Emma.
"Anytime" I saidMy god! I never noticed how beautiful my name may sound.
Her voice was music to my ears.
So, I was heading back home when my phone rang.
"Hey asshole" I said.
"Hey, Nick where are you?" Said Joe.
"I just finished the course at Emma's and I'm heading back home" I said.
"Okay, I'm a couple of blocks away from Emma's, stay where you are I'm coming" Said Joe.
"No, man she's gonna invite me in again when she sees me standing in front of her house, I'll meet halfway" I said.
"Okay" said Joe.I walked for a little bit till I saw him.
"How was she today?" Said Joe laughing.
"Perfect as always" I said facepalming myself.
"Please, Nick. I beg you! Put me out of my misery and tell me why the hell don't you ask her out or tell her how you feel?!" Said Joe.
"You're right, I'm gonna do this right now, but for the last time, Joe I'm telling I'm not in love with her! You can say that I admire her, like her, anything, but not that word" I said.
"Okay, fine you like her. what did you mean by you're gonna do this now?" Said Joe.
"I will text her inviting her to Sophie's school party" I said.
"That's my boy!" Said Joe punching my chest.
"Easy there, we don't know what she's gonna say" I said.
"Does it matter? What matters is that you made a fuckin move" Said Joe.
"You got that right" I said.
"What will you say?" Said Joe.
"I'm saving it as draft already, listen.
Hey Emma, how are you?
I just remembered that I wanted to tell you something after the course.
You see, there's this party in my cousin's school and I heard that it's gonna be great and I have invitations, so I thought you might wanna go and you can bring anyone you like I have an extra one" I said.
"That's terrible man, you sound like fifth grader" said Joe.
"I know, goddamit! That's all I can say" I said.
"Are you kidding me?! Nickolas Owen can't find something appropriate to say?! You fuckin hooked up half of the couples at school with your words and your bullshit poems" said Joe.
"Well, I think I can't find my way with words with her" I said.
"Okay never mind, that'll do" said Joe.
"Remember, Joe. It's about 3 in the afternoon, so let's see how long it will take her to reply" I said as I sent the text.
"So your plan is to take her to that party two days from now then to prom next week?" Said Joe.
"Exactly" I said.
"Okay, tell me if she accepts so I may hook up with her friend or anything" Said Joe laughing.
"Okay" I said.We walked till we reached my house, Joe said that he had something to do so he left and I entered the house, marched to my room, laid on the bed staring at the phone
I laid there for hours, had dinner and then came up to the same place and waited.
Actually there was nothing else to do.So I sat there crossing my fingers, hoping for some good news, waiting for that thing to buzz notifying me of a message. And it did..
