Such a drama queen, aren't I?
The bloody thing buzzes millions of times a day, why on earth should it be that exciting?
Of course only Emma Anderson could have this effect on me.
Although I'm not sure whether I love her or not, I was overwhelmed by the idea that finally got my attention.

The notification said "Nora".
Honestly, I'm not in the mood for this right now, matter of fact I'm never in the mood for this girl's crap.

Nevertheless, I unlocked the phone to see what she got for me this time.

Nora: Hey, Nick. How are you? Got anyone special for prom yet?

Yeah that's a good one. She's just checking up on me, how cute.

Nick: Our queen! I'm great. Yes, I'm bringing someone who's been with me through every step in my life.. My shadow.
Nora: Hahahaha. Look, I need to ask you something.

Oh here we go.

Nick: Ask away my lady.
Nora: Has Chris talked to you about prom?
Nick: Sure thing.
Nora: And?
Nick: Nothing, he asked me who I'm going with just like you did.
Nora: Nothing about us?
Nick: Why would he? Aren't you both already set?
Nora: Yeah yeah, just checking.
Nick: Okay.

Just checking? Are you kidding me?

May god be with you Chris, she's unbearable.

The bloody thing buzzed again, it's a phone call now, great! I'm in a such talkative mode now especially after that cheerful conversation.

"Yeah" I said.
"Hellooo" said Sophie.
"Hey" I said.
"How are you?" Said Sophie.
"Alive" I said.
"What's wrong?" Asked Sophie, I could imagine that cute little smile of hers go away.
"Nothing" I said.
"C'mon, Nick. Do you really think I can't tell when you're upset?" Said Sophie.
"Who am I fooling? Of course, you can" I said.
"Then what?" Said Sophie.
"Plenty of stuff going on in my head: in one hand I've got the trivial part of me that's busy with the prom and asking Emma out beside the whole Chris-Nora thing, and in the other hand I've got the sane, sensible part of me that's busy with Al and what I'm gonna do with him in such occasion. I mean.. going through graduation and ceremonies and speeches all that without his mom. I know we men are supposed to be tough and go through these things manly, but I'm just sorry for him and I know for sure that he's gonna keep himself and stay away from anything or anyone, and I don't wanna let him go through all of this alone" I said.
"God, Nick!! You have to separate worlds in your hear right now" said Sophie.
"Tell me about it" I sighed.
"Okay, another subject! What's up with Emma?" Said Sophie.
"What do you mean?" I said giggling.
"You know what I mean, you've been flooding Twitter with your crappy poems" said Sophie.
"Hey! My poems ain't crappy!" I protested.
"I know, they're great. ah right I remembered! tell me the one you wrote about me!" Said Sophie in an extra squeaky voice.
"My ears! Where does that come from?!" I said.
"Shut up, I have a wonderful voice" said Sophie proudly.
"Yeah sure, My bleeding ears are a solid proof" I said.
"Funny. Okay don't change the subject again! Tell me that poem!" Demanded Sophie.
"I'm afraid I forgot it, ma'am" I said.
She was silent for a moment "You're joking, right?" Said Sophie as shocked as hell.
I burst out laughing "No no, I'm sorry. I'm joking. Alright here it goes..

*I have enough friends* I always thought so..
And until we knew each other, I didn't know..
That we'd be that close and our friendship would grow..
Although you drive me crazy with your stupidity and every other flaw..
I'm really thankful to have someone like you, someone who's like a sister and bro..
Someone who's been with me through every high and low..
And despite these awkward lines I want you to know..
That I'll always be there for you and you'll always be my So..
Sophie...

Something like that" I said.
"Shhhh! Just shut up don't ruin it!" Said Sophie .
"Corny. isn't it?" I said.
I could hear a soft giggle "Beautiful.. just beautiful".
"I'm good, I know" I said proudly.
"If you're so good why don't you write one for Emma you dumbass?" Said Sophie.
"Of course I wrote her one" I said.
"WHAT?! AND YOU DIDN'T TELL ME?!!" Sophie yelled.
Honestly, I was beginning to feel that Chris was right, not that she's into me, but she's not interested in that whole Emma thing. So I thought she wouldn't care whether I did or not.
"I didn't think you'd care to know" I said.
"Umm.. yeah yeah I'd like to hear the poem for itself not because it's for Emma" said Sophie.

Well played here Soph, nice dodge.

"Well it's not quite ready yet, when I'm done with it, I'll tell you" I said
"Okay" was all she said.
"I offered Emma the invitations you gave me for that party of yours" I said.
"Oh.. And what did she say?" Said Sophie.
"Nothing.. yet, I texted her you see" I said.
"Okay" said Sophie.
"Okay Soph, I think I'm gonna sleep now" I said, I know it's hopeless to wait for her take action or talk to Emma, and I don't wanna expect too much from her and end up disappointed.
"Okay, good night" she said

I hung up and it was about 11 am and there was nothing to do. And still there was no response from Emma.
I was getting a little tense I must admit.
So I said to hell with it and fell asleep.

The following day couldn't be more ordinary.
I had breakfast, watched TV, ate again.
It would've gone as the daily routine easily, if I weren't on a such short bloody fuse.

I called Chris to come over, and then we'd go to the gym.
When he came, I told him about Emma's invitation, Nora's conversation and Sophie's call.

"Oh man! That's a lot of female hormones in one day! Your testosterone levels must be at the rock bottom" Said Chris laughing.
"Tell me about it. I won't be able to even lift 10 pounds" I said.
"So, what do you think? Should I go with her? Nora I mean" said Chris.
"Look, Chris. Just go with the chick and even break up with her later, don't be in my fuckin situation, waiting for a text back like a thirsty ass side chick" I said.

He laughed at that, little prick.

"Hey, Nick. You have a notification" said Chris, I was by the fridge getting something to eat.
"What's that?" I shouted.
"DUDE!! IT'S EMMA" Chris cried.
"Caught on. Has she?" I was furious. I never liked to be kept waiting, and I never put myself in such situations, but this time I can't help it "It's been 24 hours! What girl doesn't check her phone in a whole day?!" I shouted but didn't move to get it.
"Well, I'm sorry for you, but hurry cause I'm dying out of curiosity" said Chris as he gave the phone.

I opened the message and then I was neither happy nor sad and all of my rage gone. Just dull, like when you're rooting for a team and the match ends as draw.

"You gotta be kidding me" I said.
"what?!" Said Chris.

I looked at him and sighed throwing the phone on the opposite couch.
