The curtains were pulled, shredded glasses were on floor while the feather of pillows covered the mattress of the bed. The room was a mess, anyone could tell the owner was not in his senses.
Loud groans and growls were echoing in the room. Blood dripped down from the cut across the palm which was slashed by the broken vase. Standing by the glass wall he looked over the city with clenched fists. The weather outside was as awful as inside him. A dreadful hurricane was going on in everyone's life.
A knock was heard on the door. Taehyung slightly pushed the door and Jimin peeked in. There he saw, his friend standing in the darkness while the dark clouds over the city was making it look more intense. He gulped watching the blood stains on the floor and knew he had to call everyone to calm him down.
Taehyung sighed and further intruded into the room along with Jimin. Taehyung cleared his throat and said," Get yourself together. You cannot simply run away from your destiny. Your grandpa is fighting with his life then how could you cancel his last wish."
"He is right. You always wanted to inherit the company but opportunity comes with responsibility. You have to do this in the name of your family."
Jungkook turned around and stared into their eyes. He gritted his teeth on the thought that no one was ready to listen to his point of view, neither his friends we're helping. He had different plans for his life but that one last wish was going to change his life upside down.
"I can't do this, I am going out right now to declare I don't wanna get engaged," said Jungkook before matching towards the door. Taehyung blocked his way and dragged him back into the room. "Jimin, bandage his cut."
Jungkook yanked his hand away from the grip and looked at him. "Are you both even listening? You guys are just like everyone else. No one wants to listen what my dreams and my life are but compress me under the name of lineage"
Jimin scoffed." Listen to you? In what terms? You always do whatever you want, no one stops you from anything and this time for once they are asking for something and you can't fulfill that?"
"And that something is to marry a little girl! Don't you guys know that we have a gap of ten years between us? But still they want me to get engaged to her just because she is granddaughter of my grandpa's friend." Jungkook roared getting away from them.
Taehyung let out another sigh. "It's just an engagement, not a wedding. You can cancel the wedding or even divorce her later. Once she grows up she would definitely understand you."
He turned around with a frown and asked,"What about my girlfriend? I really love her. I can't lose her for a short term relationship with a kid.."
"That Kim Jieun would never find about it. Y/N is an orphan and won't stay at Jeon mansion either, so you can hide the truth as long as you want. No one's gonna know unless you'll tell her. It's a secret." Jimin exclaimed before going to his bedside table.
Taehyung hummed in response. He said,"Your grandpa just wants a confirmation that the promise he gave to his friend gets fulfilled before he dies. Put an act and do it, once his soul rest in peace you could talk to her to cancel the wedding since the wedding would occur only when she would become an adult by law. "
Jungkook hissed when a cotton bud got presses on his cut. Jimin firmly held his palm and dragged him to the couch where Jungkook sat between them. An awkward silence lingered in the air until Taehyung decided to break it.
He said," I think this wedding would bring disaster but the engagement will only bring happiness. Think about it Jungkook... Your grandfather would hand you the company and that orphan girl would get a family. Don't forget she is the last in the line of inheritance from her bloodline. She needs protection too after what happened to her parents."
Jimin's eyes lowered when he mumbled," That poor girl was hardly saved from that accident. Mr. Jeon really baited his life for that innocent soul so she could live as every other child in Seoul. She is a quite lucky to survive unlike her parents, otherwise people say that they were murdered."
"But she is destroying my life. I can't accept her in any terms. Neither in age nor face, not in wealth too. "You both know I courted Jieun to date me and when she agreed my parents was bugging in my life."
"Your parents gave you this life. At least respect them. A little lie won't hurt anyone. Till the time she would grow old, she'll fall for someone else and you both could happily divorce."
JUNGKOOK'S POV
They both started to persuade me with long speeches. They reassured that I had many ways and it was just a formality for the sake of grandpa who was counting his days.
I sighed, finally nodding to my destruction. I followed behind them, walking through the hallways that led to the staircase which reached the hall where everyone had their eyes on me. I took a deep breath, reminding myself that it was all for the old man's last wish, nothing else.
I marched towards the stage where my parents were standing. Dad was strictly adorning his poker face even though he had a heart wide and deep as ocean while mom was forcing a decent smile. She didn't wanted me to get married by force but to first find live just like what she did. She was a kind woman but the authority of elders timid her voice.
That was when my eyes landed on a girl, dressed in pink, who was tall upto my waist. I couldn't believe they were marrying me off to a baby who was more eligible to be my sister instead of fiance. I rolled my eyes, chewing on the lips ring.
It should be a joke, right? I was in a totally distinct phase of life where condoms and thrill were comman while she was still leaning alphabets like her age group.
What could I even except from a seven years old girl?
We really had an age gap.
All my friends watched us before grandpa walked towards us with the help of his walking stick. He took out a box and handed us the platinum ring.
The ring ceremony was completed the moment we exchanged them. I blankly stared it, thinking what did my future held while for the girl it was a mere piece of jewellery.
"Congratulations." Everyone cheered and when my grandfather smiled, so did my father, his lips curved up into an enchanting smile that was his rare charms.
"Jungkook, I want to talk to you," he said. I bobbed my head already following him back to his study room while everyone else cheered downstairs.
I closed the door, looking at his back who was looking out of the European style large window seeing the view out of the mansion. The sky was cold and windy, right before a storm would arrive. The lights were off and only the illumination from outside lit the room which had large bookshelves touching the ceiling and maplewood flooring with a green leather chair behind the wooden desk.
Standing near the desk I cleared my throat. He sighed glancing over his shoulder. "I'm sorry, Jungkookie."
My eyes widened because for the first time his voice came weak. I never expected to see this side of the massive man and it somehow broke me.
"I had no choice. When you'll age and stand at my place, you'll understand my decisions although it would not make a sense to a teenager like you." He turned around, hands shoved in his pocket. "One day you'll know why it's important to fulfill the last wish of your parents. I o-owe you a lot."
His voice cracked behind the closed doors which isolated us from the outside world. This was not a causal talk but a sincere apology that a father asked from his son. I felt terrible. I felt his pain and the reason why he loved his parents because I did the same. I loved my family to let myself get crushed in between.
Without saying a word more I passed by the desk and wrapped my arms around his breaking figure. He hugged me back, clutching me for support. When he pulled back he patted my shoulder.
"My boy grew so fast," he chuckled. I smiled watching one of the millionaire of Busan, gaining back his stable breaths. He took my hands in his and said," The girl has nothing to do with it, she lost her family. She's a victim too. Promise me, you'll take care of Y/N."
I saw his welled up eyes which I didn't liked at all. I knew this conversation would never be mentioned in future and no one would get to know about this. I sternly bobbed my head and spoke the unexpected words.
"I will."
