Lifting the baby over her shoulder, Claudia walked out of the museum pushing the pram using her stomach as her hands busied moving the muslin over her shoulder beneath the baby.

Today was the first proper day out they’d all had since Juliette had been born and Paige was insane. She wanted to see everything and have a go with everything and have James watch and then Claudia watch and then… it was exhausting and Juliette didn’t want to settle, she just wanted to feed and cry.

Settling on the low wall outside the museum, Claudia lifted her baby away from her and looked into her green eyes. “What genome sequence did you inherit from your grandpa?”

“Aunt Chrissy?” a little boy asked, Claudia looked up and her jaw dropped. His hair was blonde and clipped neatly; his eyes were the same blue as hers. He was her nephew; he couldn’t look more like Charlie if he tried. “Oh, you’re not her… Have you seen a man who looks like me with two boys who look like me?”

“No sorry.” She smiled, resting Juliette against her chest and deciding it best not to mention what she knew. “Where did you last see them?”

“They were thinking about going inside and then I went to the toilet… they’re not inside, a lady checked for me.” he sighed, sitting down beside her but still a distance away.

“Will they have a mobile phone?” she asked, “Maybe you know a phone number?”

“No.” he sighed shaking his head. “Nana might, but I don’t know it.”

“What house are you in at Hogwarts?” she asked, not being able to help herself.

She watched as his jaw dropped and a smile spread over his face. “Hufflepuff. How did you know?”

“My husband was in Gryffindor.” She laughed, “His brother was in Slytherin but he’s still lovely.”

“I’m Alfie.”

“Claudia and this is Jules.” She smiled, twisting her daughter to look at her cousin. “Do you play quidditch?”

“Yeah.” He beamed, excited with the topic of conversation. “I’m a beater, Mum wasn’t impressed but Dad said he’s proud of me… I broke my arm last month.”

“Ouch!” she laughed, “I bet your Mum tried to ban you.”

“She tried.” He grinned with a nod, “I’m only a reserve though so it’s not like I get to play every game.”

“I bet you’ll be tall when you’re older though.” Claudia shrugged, knowing her brother was built like a troll. “You’ll get more games then.”

“My Aunty Chrissy says Dad’s built like a troll!” he laughed, before looking around at the hordes of people that were passing them constantly.

“Maybe when my husband comes out he can find your dad with his wand… they do that don’t they?” she mumbled as he nodded a little.

“I think so… is your husband like super smart?” he asked, “Grandpa said that only really smart wizards can do that.”

“He’s very smart.” Claudia nodded, “But don’t tell him that I’m smarter, just can’t use magic.”

“That must be awful.”

“I don’t know any different.” She laughed, though it felt bitter because she’d always felt robbed. ”Look, there he is with our other daughter.”
